Under the direction of the Sr Director Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, this person will act as an agent of change for facilitating and solving some of Honeywells biggest problems such as factory turnarounds, global supply chain network constraints, and manufacturing footprint optimization. This person will utilize Honeywells Accelerator Global Design Models (GDM), as well as process improvement and business transformation methodologies, by using Lean practices and principles. In addition, this role is responsible for building Lean thinking foundational capabilities within the key value streams of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment, strategy creation, and execution plan for transforming and improving the performance of distressed factories and/or major value streams and product lines. Lead the recovery and transformation through executive coaching and mentoring, value stream analysis, rapid improvement/Kaizen events, tools such as A3 thinking, managing for daily improvement, and leader standard work and Gemba walks. You will develop the communication plan for the transformation strategy and present that to appropriate avenues of business leadership and the site.
  • Coach and develop leaders and staff through the value stream, including engineering, materials management, and operations, to ensure transformation priorities are aligned to the top overall business needs and Operational Excellence thinking is utilized in solution approaches
  • Coach lean process and behavior changes, developing a highly effective Daily Management process focused on tools such as one-piece flow, on-demand, zero defects, and standardized work. Deploy tools including kanban, value stream mapping, visual management, pull systems, TPM, SMED, and 5S as applicable
  • Coach and lead the full-time leaders of the site/business and continuous improvement professionals supporting the Transformation Value Streams to grow their knowledge and capabilities. Mentor them to be true agents of change, improving their change management capabilities (tools and behaviors), and ensure rigor around conducting rapid improvement events.
  • Implement KPIs and operational rigor to drive improvements throughout the transformation.
  • Conduct regular executive communication updates on the status of the transformation, escalations, and support required.
  • Support the value stream team to develop and follow their personal leadership standard work, yielding a culture of system, process, and behavior discipline to get results using lean principles
  • Provide full financial analysis and capital expenditure justification as necessary, and accurately project and track savings
  • Lead and support capital projects and advanced manufacturing engineering efforts directly related to foot-print reduction, operation optimization and efficiency

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Lean transformation experience and understanding of lean principles with a proven track record of changing culture and getting results. Successfully led and coached 20+ events.
  • Experience executing factory turnarounds or major lean transformations.
  • 5+ years Sr. Operations Manager, Site leader and/or Plant Manager experience
  • 5+ years of Lean Operations Excellence or equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel 75

 

WE VALUE

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline required.
  • 2+ years Sr. Materials Manager experience is valuable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both senior management and production staff.
  • Leadership through influence, coaching, mentoring, and teaching; ability to foster lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance.
  • Understanding of Gemba-based continuous improvement tools/techniques. APICS CPIM Certification or equivalent experience desired.
  • Multi-lingual a plus. Able to travel abroad as necessary to solve big problems.
