Position Summary

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Director of Finance, Programs, is responsible for the financial stewardship of the organizations programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support decision-making. This role involves close collaboration with program managers and the executive team to ensure that program initiatives achieve desired financial outcomes. The director will lead the financial planning for programs, monitor financial performance, and provide strategic financial insights to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Investment Analysis: Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to evaluate and advise on the financial implications of long-term programs and related investments.
  • Budget Management: Work closely with program managers to develop and manage program budgets. Ensure that funds are allocated efficiently and effectively to meet program objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular financial reports for programs, highlighting key financial metrics, variances from budget, and insights into financial performance. Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
  • Cost Control: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within programs. Implement financial controls to monitor and manage program expenses.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess the financial risks associated with programs. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial exposure.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate financial performance and coordinate program funding. Collaborate with program managers to align financial and programmatic goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of finance professionals supporting program financial management. Foster a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • A Masters degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management, with a significant focus on program or project finance.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, including advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
