Position Title:
Director of Maintenance (DOM) – FAA Part 135 Charter Operations
Position Summary:
The Director of Maintenance is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance of all aircraft listed under the company’s FAA Part 135 certificate. This position serves as the primary liaison with the FAA and other regulatory authorities, ensures strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and industry best practices while maintaining the highest standards of airworthiness and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA requirements of the Part 135, as well as the Part 145.
- Maintain operational control of all maintenance performed on company aircraft.
- Submit required FAA reports (e.g., Mechanical Interruption Summary, Service Difficulty Reports).
- Maintenance Oversight:
- Lead and manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications.
- Maintain aircraft in a continuous state of airworthiness using approved data and procedures.
- Oversee procurement of parts, materials, and ground support equipment.
- Personnel Management:
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance personnel to ensure compliance and performance.
- Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to prescribed safety practices.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with flight operations to align maintenance schedules with operational needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for FAA inspectors, manufacturers, vendors, and contract maintenance providers.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping:
- Manage aircraft records, maintenance tracking systems, Minimum Equipment List (MEL) compliance, and digital documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of job cards, logbooks, and maintenance records.
- Budget & Planning:
- Develop and monitor maintenance budgets, cost controls, and long-term planning for fleet expansion or upgrades.
- Forecast downtime and plan for major component overhauls or rework.
