The Director of Maintenance plays a key role in ensuring that customers’ aircraft remain in peak condition while following strict regulatory standards. This position oversees Maintenance Technicians, Parts Department and Avionics Department, while ensuring adherence to FAA regulations and company policies. As a key member of the leadership team, this role is responsible for ensuring SAFE and timely completion of all work on customers’ aircraft.
What are some expectations of this role?
- Anticipate parts and labor needs on incoming customers’ aircraft.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and professional development of maintenance personnel.
- Identify and manage vendor relationships to support both maintenance and facility operations.
- Assist in maintaining and updating operational documentation, including the FAA Operations, Specifications and Repair Station Manual, ensuring all changes are clearly communicated to and adhered by the team.
- Conduct inspections to evaluate equipment and manuals for compliance. Participate in audits conducted by regulatory authorities, customers, and third-party organizations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and customers and the company and maintenance technicians.
- Perform additional tasks assigned, supporting the overall objectives of the maintenance department and the company.
What are the qualifications of this role?
Experience:
- 10-15 years of aviation maintenance experience, with 5-7 years in a management or supervisory role preferred.
Certifications:
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Aviation Management, or a related field, or 7-10 years of equivalent experience.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and aviation safety standards.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
