Duty Station Manager JFK

Your role

As a Duty Station Manager JFK, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the station operations, maintaining a quality travel experience for all Aer Lingus customers by proactively managing the frontline customer experience, ensuring the ground handling staff are appropriately skilled to deliver an excellent product to our customers.  Our Operations Department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of every flight, continuously improving operational performance, and delivering exceptional service that supports our strategic goals.

 

Your responsibilities as a Duty Station Manager JFK will include:

  • Ensure that handling services provided to Aer Lingus flights by Ground Handling staff are performed in accordance with the appropriate handling agreements and in conformity with all operative, qualitative and safety requirement.
  • Working with the Station Manager to ensure the integration of the Aer Lingus Safety Management Systems and Ground Operations Safety Management at the station.
  • Ensure DOT, EU-Ops and FAA rules and regulations are followed at the area airports and control and audit non-conformities are corrected accordingly and without delay in accordance with the Quality Management system (QMS).
  • Ensure handling staff are aware of the Aer Lingus SMS and safety reporting policies and procedures.
  • Manage safety incident through the SafetyNet system ensuring reports raised within 72 hours of any safety incident taking place.
  • Manage effective working relationships with the third-party Ground Handling staff and other suppliers to ensure that the provision of the contracted service to Aer Lingus is delivered in full.
  • Manage and review the SLA to ensure that it is accurate, effective and reflect the ever-changing business environment.
  • Build and maintain working relationship with the various in-house departments and control authorities (Immigration, Police, Special Branch, Customs, Department of Transport or equivalent, ATC).
  • Liaise with the OCC and NCC to effectively manage delays/disruptions/cancellations.
  • Develop initiatives with a view to reducing unit business cost per passenger and aircraft movement.
  • Assist Station Manager with driving OTP and strong VOC results.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the station/s Emergency Response Plan.
  • Attend Counsellor General events or other company events as needed.
  • Interaction with legal authorities as and when required.
  • Contactable 24/7.

Your qualifications and key criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • Hold a current full clean driving licence.
  • 3-6 years related airline operations/customer service experience.
  • Experience in a position of leadership/supervision.
  • Customer focused with a strong awareness of the Aer Lingus service standards and guest engagement initiatives.
  • Sound knowledge of Aer Lingus Ground Operations procedures and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of aviation best practice and an understanding of the scope of Ground Operations.
  • Good understanding of the Aer Lingus Safety Management and Operations Quality Systems.
  • Understanding of ICAO regulations, national and international aviation standards and applicable legislation.
  • Willing to travel and overnight on a regular basis, and provide cover for other management positions across the business.
  • Ability to attain required work permit for the US.
  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to work long shifts back to back in the event of delays, emergencies.
  • Must possess excellent attendance & punctuality record.
  • Possess and be able to demonstrate the key competencies and skills outlined below.
  • Proven decision-making skills with the ability to make timely, clear-cut, well informed and evaluated decisions.
  • Results focused and solution delivers with proven problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles and resistance.
  • Ability to take initiative and use own judgment.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to develop productive, effective and mutually beneficial working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the talent to present information articulately and objectively.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and drive external 3rd party performance.
  • An enthusiastic team member with a flexible attitude in providing support across a range of activities.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Qualify and maintain competency as a CRO (Complaint Resolution Official) as per DOT regulations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Provide three verifiable references.
