The Lab Operations EHS Leader will provide EHS support to the lab operations at the Evendale GE Aerospace site, as well as the supporting maintenance organizations. This position will work closely with operations to drive implementation of programs to ensure all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE management system requirements are met. The successful candidate must be a proven leader, facilitator, and coach to promote EHS culture and ensure compliance to EHS regulatory requirements with a continuous improvement mindset. This position will act as a part of the broader Evendale EHS organization, which supports 6000+ employees campus wide, and is a VPP certified as well as Title V EPA site.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with operations team to identify and address EHS issues related to site operations, equipment and site design, installation, and commissioning. This includes providing and presenting EHS KPIs.
- Participate in audits, conduct worker observations, and complete risk assessments across the labs to assess compliance and effectiveness of campus EHS programs. Coach to closure any improvement opportunities identified through such assessments.
- Empower represented employees to own elements of sites EHS programs, establishing a culture where EHS is a priority for all.
- Own development of area risk assessment (Safety RAs, JSAs, etc.)
- Assist with accident and event investigations, determine proper root cause, and implement effective countermeasure to prevent future incidents.
- Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) & equipment readiness (Orange Tag Process) for activities within their supported groups.
- Review and maintain EHS training matrix for supported employees. Ensure relevant EHS training is available as new processes, equipment, and requirements are developed.
- Assist with EHS program implementation, identify gaps, and provide guidance on improvement opportunities.
- Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in a union environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years EHS experience) Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS

- Experience in test cell environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to others about process safety and impact the culture in a positive way
