Job Description:

The Egress Supervisor is directly responsible for setting priorities for the daily maintenance effort of the aircraft and equipment assigned to the Egress Division through close coordination with Maintenance Control Supervisors.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage all aspects of Egress maintenance and repair on/off aircraft, and ensure all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise maintenance staff, which includes reviewing employee performance, addressing personnel issues, generating assignments, and setting priorities.
  • Perform scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery, aircraft and avionics corrosion inspection and treatment, and routine to complex maintenance of aircraft, aircraft sub-systems, and components, as required.
  • Review work orders regarding modifications and/or upgrades to various aircraft systems.
  • Manage all maintenance aspects for Egress.
  • Supervise Egress Technicians, performing conditional, scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on ejection seats, canopy, emergency oxygen systems, and corrosion control as required on the T-6B aircraft. 
  • Perform routine program inspections of flight gear, utilizing the Computerized Self Evaluation Checklist (CSEC), ensuring accuracy within the program. 
  • May be required to manage the Naval Ordinance Management Policy and Egress System Checkout program.
  • Maintain accuracy within VFS/Trace CAD/PAD by updating installed ordinance, service life changes, and extensions.
  • Qualify as a Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO) and Board Member.
  • Maintain accuracy within NALCOMIS OMA that all ordinance log sets have correct information, including tasks, expiration dates, open dates, installed dates, manufacture dates, lot numbers, and part numbers.
  • Maintain ordinance training jackets for all ordinance-certified employees, ensuring certifications are current and training is properly documented. 
  • Read and interpret manufacturers and company maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. 
  • Provide guidance and instruction to team members concerning technical orders, checklists, and hazardous materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment maintenance schedules on all company assets and monitoring parts and supply inventory.
  • Ensure availability of materials, anticipating requirements, and reordering.
  • Offer technical guidance to engineering staff regarding start-up of new equipment and follow-up of maintenance programs.
  • Provide employees with proper training on company equipment as required by OSHA regulations and monitor annual training requirements.
  • May supervise and assist in aircraft/equipment movement.
  • May conduct flight line and hangar foreign object damage prevention walks and housekeeping. 
  • May meet with Customers and Company Senior Leadership as required.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to supervise a team.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate maintenance work requirements, direct supervisors, mechanics, and technicians in the daily performance of their duties.
  • In-depth knowledge of flight line operations, aircraft/vehicle movement, and safety/hazards.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft common and special tools and test equipment, aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications, and schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft and avionics corrosion detection and treatment.
  • Advanced knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 (series) Maintenance Programs and NAVAIR 11-100-1.1 (series), and other applicable maintenance / technical manuals (preferred)
  • Advanced Knowledge of NALCOMIS/OOMA Work Order process and procedures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Competent in the use of a computer, including Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Aircraft Egress Systems and applicable explosive devices. 

Experience & Education

  • Must have two (2) years’ experience in work directly related to Aircraft Egress and Canopy Fracturing Systems.
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Completion of Navy AME "A" school or PR “A” school or applicable military service school equivalent or T/M/S factory equivalent training curriculum.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Aircraft Egress Systems and applicable explosive devices.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience in an aviation maintenance supervisory position.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in an aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to three (3) hours per day and sit for up to five (5) hours per day.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be able to climb/descend stairs routinely.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • CONUS assignments are typically in a normal office and outdoors flight line environment.
  • May be required to carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds.
  • Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Requires hearing to the normal range

Travel

Ability to travel domestically.
