Job Description:

Airbus Americas Customer Services is looking for an Embodiment Operations Manager to join the Major Repairs Customer Services Team based in Herndon, VA.

Meet the Team:

The Major Repairs team provides end to end support for developing, repairing and modifying aircraft around the world. The team coordinates and implements bespoke repair solutions to meet the customer’s specific requirements, while ensuring a positive customer relationship. 

As the Embodiment Operations Manager in Virginia, you will manage and lead complex repair projects and help build customer relationships, with a higher focus on the North American operations, along with some Latin American operations.

Your Challenges:

  • Manage major and complex repair projects, including but not limited to incidental and fleet-wide repairs.

  • Support repair based activities for internal Airbus stakeholders.

  • Ensure adequate change and stakeholder management as part of maintenance activities. This activity is carried out either for internal Airbus stakeholders or for customers.

  • Proactively identify North American customer’s needs in the area of aircraft repairs.

  • Build and propose custom solutions as part of an Airbus service package.

  • Manage contract negotiation and agreement with customers, engaging relevant support function (CSD, legal, etc.) to achieve this goal

  • Define the industrial feasibility (cost, time, risk) of the project during the acquisition phase. 

  • Establish overall integrated project planning from preparation for aircraft recovery or aircraft damage assessment to delivery to customer in accordance with contractual requirements, industrial capabilities and Airbus policies.

  • Actively manage risks by developing a mitigation/recovery plan.

  • Motivate cross-functional, global teams to find solutions and complete tasks on time and within budget.

  • Manage subcontractors, as necessary for successful completion of repairs

  • Ensure that project objectives in terms of time, cost and quality are met. Monitor and provide real-time tracking of project costs and margin, if applicable. Maintain full control of transaction profitability to comply with Airbus financial objectives.

  • Manage the communication process within AIRBUS and third parties, through which instructions and information will pass,

  • Negotiate the contract with the customer ensuring that Airbus revenue and EBIT targets are met.

  • For each project, establish the project organization, work breakdown structure and integrated planning in compliance with the contractual requirements, industrial capabilities and Airbus policies

  • Anticipate and mitigate risks throughout the entire project lifecycle in a proactive manner

  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met with respect to time, cost and quality.

  • Submit Call for Tender to Airbus Procurement team when a BUY approach is preferred.

  • Monitor projects costs and maintain a full control of the deal profitability to comply with Airbus financial objectives.

  • Reports on project progress at customers&39; MD Engineering & Maintenance level

  • Perform post project reviews (internal & external) to ensure experience capitalization and improvement plan, and communicate to all relevant stakeholders

  • This role will involve business travel.

You boarding pass:

  • Training as an aircraft structural engineer with at least 10 years of experience

  • Aircraft maintenance operations experience

  • Demonstrable experience in project management

  • Knowledge and experience of Part 145 and Airworthiness Regulations are preferred

  • Experience in communicating with customers, including negotiating sales contracts

  • Advanced level of English 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) required, Master of Science in Engineering or Business Administration preferred
