Winyah Flight School is hiring a Flight Operations Manager for the Georgetown, SC location. The Flight Operations Manager (FOM) provides leadership and strategic oversight of all flight training operations. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality instructional programs while managing flight instructors, support staff, and the aircraft fleet. The Flight Operations Manager fosters a strong culture of aviation safety, professionalism, regulatory compliance, and educational excellence, while serving as a key ambassador for the flight school within the aviation community; additionally, serving informally as the Part 61 Chief Flight Instructor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage all flight school personnel, including instructors and administrative/support staff.
- Oversee scheduling, utilization, and operational readiness of the aircraft fleet.
- Ensure all flight and ground training complies with FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 61), while maintaining instructor standardization and safety standards.
- Oversee student training records, conduct stage checks, hire and train flight instructors, and manage the training curriculum.
- Maintain compliance with FAA and TSA regulations, including accurate recordkeeping and operational standards.
- Conduct flight training, ground instruction, and progress checks as needed.
- Oversee initial and recurrent training for company flight instructors.
- Promote a positive safety culture with strong emphasis on instructional quality and risk management.
- Serve as a representative of the flight school within the community by attending local events and aviation-related seminars.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the FAA regarding all matters.
- Develop and administer employee incentive and recognition programs; administer discipline or recommend termination in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
- Physical and Operational Requirements
- Ability to conduct flight and ground instruction, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Ability to safely operate aircraft and work in hangar and ramp environments.
- Must meet FAA medical and operational requirements for flight duties.
