Total Aviation Staffing is hiring a Fuel Strategy Manager for our client, a leading private aviation and travel services provider.

In this role, you will help build and manage the company’s fuel purchasing strategy, reduce fuel-related costs, negotiate with vendors, and support smarter real-time fuel decisions across the operation.

What You’ll Do As the Fuel Strategy Manager , you will be responsible for analyzing fuel spend, negotiating vendor agreements, improving purchasing decisions, and helping standardize fuel strategy across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize company-wide aviation fuel spend.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, pricing anomalies, and vendor performance issues.
- Develop competitive fuel pricing benchspans across key spanets and routes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with FBOs, fuel providers, and aviation vendors nationwide.
- Negotiate favorable fuel pricing, vendor agreements, and high-volume route pricing.
- Coordinate with scheduling, dispatch, operations, and finance teams to capture strategic fuel pricing opportunities.
- Audit fuel transactions to identify billing errors, recover overcharges, and ensure pricing aligns with negotiated terms.
- Develop fuel purchasing guidelines that support proactive decision-making by operational teams.
- Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track key fuel metrics, including cost per gallon, vendor performance, savings opportunities, and purchasing compliance.
- Create, improve, and enforce company-wide fuel purchasing policies.
- Support cross-functional communication between operations, finance, scheduling, and vendor partners.
- Stay informed on fuel spanet trends, FBO pricing structures, and aviation fuel purchasing best practices.
What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-moving aviation environment. You should be able to turn pricing data into practical decisions, negotiate confidently with vendors, and communicate clearly with operational teams.
This role is a great fit for someone with experience in aviation operations, fuel management, vendor sourcing, procurement, dispatch, trip support, or FBO/vendor relations.
Required Qualifications - Experience in aviation operations, fuel management, vendor sourcing, procurement, or a related field preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret pricing data, spanet trends, and purchasing activity.
- Experience identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational inefficiencies.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, and vendor management skills.
- Ability to conduct audits, review transactions, and identify billing or pricing discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, real-time operational environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, finance, scheduling, and vendor partners.
Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with FBO networks and aviation fuel pricing structures.
- Experience with private aviation, business aviation, charter operations, aircraft management, or flight operations.
- Knowledge of trip planning, dispatch coordination, aircraft routing, or fuel release processes.
- Experience negotiating with FBOs, fuel vendors, or aviation service providers.
- Experience building dashboards, reports, KPIs, or cost-tracking tools.
- Strong Microsoft Excel or data reporting experience.
- Background in aviation procurement, supplier management, or operational cost control.
