Job Description:
DPP is seeking a Global Category Manager for IT Service with our client in the civil aerospace industry.
 
Location: Onsite in Indianapolis, IN
Duration: 6 -8 months; W2 position
Work authorization: US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
 
Preferred candidate profile:
Experience and background:
  • 5+ years of procurement or category management experience with a Bachelor’s degree (field flexible if experience is strong). In lieu of a degree, 9+ years of experience is required.
  • Proven ability to manage IT category strategies and supplier relationships effectively.
  • Experience in aerospace, IT services, or automotive industries is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation.

  • Quick Learner: Adapts rapidly to new categories and processes; capable of transitioning from IT to Test category management within the first few months.

  • Social & Communication Skills: Builds strong relationships internally and externally; adept at conflict resolution and maintaining professionalism.
Technical and functional skills:
  • Expertise in supplier relationship management, including performance tracking and KPI reporting.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in cost analysis, contract drafting, and business case development.
  • Ability to develop and deploy category strategies, understanding market dynamics and long-term planning.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and rigorous tracking of category activities.

Minimum requirements:
  • Associates degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 7+ years of experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 5+ years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 3+ years of experience, OR
  • JD/PhD, OR
  • 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident 
Responsibilities:
  • Effective management of supplier relationships and strategic direction of partners and suppliers, which includes being accountable for managing issues that require escalation, conflict resolution, driving and improving in-contract supplier performance, and reporting out on KPIs to procurement.
  • Lead complex negotiations through planning, performing cost analysis, drafting of contracts and creating business cases to maximize the value proposition across all major categories.
  • Responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining relevant integrated commodity/category supplier strategies that have a clear vision and a strategic framework for the designated commodity which requires understanding of the commodity landscape, associated risks, and ability to conduct long term planning.
  • Manage the identification, assessment, and mitigation of commercial risks within the supply chain to ensure continuity and resilience.
  • Manage & lead a team of buyer(s) to excel in their strategic tasks by fostering skill development and achieving superior outcomes for the business.
