Purpose of Position

The Helicopter Program Manager (HPM) is responsible for the operation of the assigned Helicopter Pilot Training Program(s) within the Learning Center by performing the following duties:
NOTE: The term “Program” can refer to the training program in its development, implementation, or evaluation stages.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education

Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school preferred, or three (3) years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; equivalency years’ experience substitution must be in related field.

Minimum Experience

Minimum of six (6) months experience in a teaching/training environment, especially where the material is designed for adult (over 18 years old) participants, preferred.For all current qualifications, please refer to the requirements noted in the appropriate Ground, Simulator and Flight Instructor Job Descriptions.The following are preferred experience in specific rotorcraft-helicopter lines due to the equipment training being offered by the designated Learning Center:-Tucson, AZ:Eurocopter AS-350 -Hurst, TX or Lafayette, LABell (any models) and/or Eurocopter EC 135-West Palm Beach or Lafayette, LASikorsky (any models)The following are preferred experience in specific rotorcraft-helicopter environments:-Off-shore drilling rig pick-ups and deliveries-Emergency Medical (EMS) pick-ups and deliveries-Corporate Part 91 and Part 135 or 121 or foreign equivalent operations

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and writeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsAbility to interact with various levels of management in a professional mannerAbility to adapt to changing schedules and high pressure situationsKnowledge of management principles and their applicationsA second language may be required in some Learning Centers to meet particular needs

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Must possess physical range of body motion to perform the following (Simulator): (1.) Reach, exert pressure and manipulate the rudder controls with both feet. (2.) Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor’s chair. (3.) Enter and exit from the Simulator device via the provided ramp. (4.) With relative ease and quickness move between the Instructor station, projector screen and podium while instructing in the classroom. (5.) Exit from malfunctioned Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Must possess physical range of body motion to perform the following (Aircraft): (1.) Reach, exert pressure and manipulate the rudder controls with both feet. (2.) Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the aircraft's cockpit. (3.) Enter and exit the aircraft's cockpit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
