Reporting to the Director of Corporate Security Programs, the Senior Manager, Internal Investigations leads a high-performing team of internal security managers and investigators. Responsible for setting vision, driving enterprise-wide investigative strategy, and ensuring organizational resilience against internal and external threats. Acts as a strategic partner to executive leadership and a key architect of Delta’s security culture.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of four or more grade 8/9 leaders, ensuring consistent execution of investigative best practices and professional growth across the function.
  • Define and execute enterprise-wide investigative strategy, aligning with organizational objectives and emerging threat landscapes.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Corporate Security, Legal, Compliance, HR, and external agencies to proactively mitigate risk and respond to incidents.
  • Oversee complex, multifaceted investigations, ensuring all findings meet legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and support organizational decision-making at the highest levels.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for investigative effectiveness, risk reduction, and team development.
  • Represent the investigations function at executive and enterprise forums, advocating for resources, influencing policy, and providing strategic counsel to senior leaders.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to evolve investigative processes, technologies, and training.
  • Maintain oversight of all investigative records, data security, and evidence management protocols, ensuring enterprise compliance and confidentiality.
  • Represent Delta in high-level meetings with senior officials of the US and international governments, serving as a credible and trusted liaison for investigative and security matters.
  • Advocate for Delta’s interests in policy, regulatory, and crisis situations, building strategic relationships with support organizational objectives and operational resilience.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with law enforcement, intelligence, and aviation security partners, representing Delta’s interests at industry and government levels.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and spokesperson for internal investigations, providing guidance and testimony as required in executive, legal, and regulatory settings.
  • Model Delta’s values of integrity, resilience, care, and servant leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Provide 24/7 strategic support for critical security incidents, ensuring rapid mobilization of resources and enterprise coordination as needed.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in law enforcement, intelligence, or corporate security, with significant oversight of investigative teams and enterprise risk.
  • Experience with national security issues/investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and manage leaders across diverse, high-stakes environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing investigative strategies that drive measurable organizational outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and ability to partner with senior leadership and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior government leaders and international officials, with proven diplomatic skills and executive presence
  • Experience managing complex projects, setting KPIs, and leveraging data for continuous improvement.
  • Aviation industry familiarity/experience is required.
  • Proven interview and investigation skills.
  • High degree of self-discipline, initiative, and drive, and function well under budgetary, operational, and time constraints.
  • Experience working in fast paced, dynamic conditions while exceling under pressure in critical situations and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities with little supervision.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with natural curiosity, attention to detail, and strong investigative drive.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • US citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain US government security clearance is required.
  • Domestic and international travel is required.
  • Performing satisfactorily in current position.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • At least 5 years of counterterrorism experience.
  • Current Secret level security clearance or higher.
