At our Peru, Indiana facility a 4-bay hangar managing 8–10 aircraft deliveries per month. We maintain a skilled workforce of over 100 paint professionals, a maintenance team of 5, and an inspection team of 5–8 inspectors. Together, these teams uphold the reputation for quality and precision that has defined Dean Baldwin Painting for decades.

We are seeking a Lead A&P Inspector to oversee our Quality Control inspection team and ensure every aircraft we deliver meets the highest standards of quality, compliance, and airworthiness.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Inspector, the Lead A&P Inspector plays a hands-on leadership role performing inspection duties alongside the team while managing workflow, schedules, and compliance. This position requires strong technical ability, leadership presence, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and mentor a team of 5–7 Quality Control Inspectors.
  • Coordinate team schedules based on aircraft flow and delivery commitments.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with FAA, customer, and company requirements.
  • Review and verify work packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145 and company Repair Station/Quality Control Manuals.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Inspector on inspection planning, documentation, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in preliminary, in-progress, and final inspections of aircraft post-paint or limited maintenance.
  • Oversee documentation to ensure traceability, accuracy, and timely customer submission.
  • Promote adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards across inspection activities.
  • Provide on-the-floor leadership working alongside the team to set the standard for quality and professionalism.

Job Requirements:
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate – Required.
  • Minimum 5 years of aviation inspection experience.
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience in a Part 145 Repair Station environment.
  • Experience across major Airbus and Boeing fleets, including narrowbody and widebody platforms.
  • Strong understanding of FAA Part 145/121 regulations, RSM, and QCM procedures.
  • Ability to interpret Engineering Orders (EOs), technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Proficiency with computer-based maintenance tracking and recordkeeping systems.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership presence with the ability to motivate a team.
