About the Role
The Lead Platform Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping IndiGo’s digital technology landscape. This role will lead enterprise-level platform architecture initiatives, design scalable and resilient systems, and drive the adoption of modern engineering practices across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional product, engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to build platforms that power next-generation airline operations and digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Design
- Lead the architecture and design of scalable, secure, and high-performance digital platforms supporting customer, operations, and enterprise functions.
- Define architectural standards, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks across the digital ecosystem.
- Evaluate and recommend modern technologies, cloud-native patterns, and emerging architectural approaches.
- Ensure platforms align with IndiGo’s long-term digital strategy, business goals, and scalability requirements.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the primary architecture authority for platform-related initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams on design decisions, integration patterns, and platform reuse.
- Review solution designs and ensure adherence to architectural guidelines and best practices.
- Drive engineering excellence through automation, DevSecOps, API-first architecture, and microservices.
Cloud & Infrastructure Strategy
- Lead cloud architecture initiatives, including migration strategies, modernization roadmaps, and platform observability.
- Architect solutions leveraging public cloud technologies, containerization, and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with Infra, SRE, and Cybersecurity teams to ensure resilient and secure deployments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with product and business teams to translate requirements into architectural blueprints.
- Partner with data and analytics teams to create unified platform integration and data access patterns.
- Act as a bridge between engineering, operations, and leadership to drive architectural governance.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends, aviation technology, digital commerce, DevOps, and cloud-native innovations.
- Continuously optimize architecture for cost, performance, and scalability.
- Drive POCs, tooling evaluations, and architectural improvements.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, with at least 4+ years in platform or cloud architecture roles.
Technical Expertise
- Deep knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, API platforms, and distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes, and container ecosystems.
- Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Solid understanding of security best practices, performance engineering, and resiliency patterns.
- Familiarity with integration technologies (ESB, API gateway, messaging systems like Kafka, etc.).
- Hands-on understanding of backend engineering stacks (Java, .NET, Node.js, or similar).
