Primary Objective of the Position:

The successful applicant will maintain Cargojets aircraft at the highest level of reliability and ensure duties are performed in accordance with Cargojets MCM, MPM, and Technical documentation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign, coordinate, and ensure the timely completion of work being carried out by the Technicians and Apprentices at their base.
  • Perform required and forecasted aircraft inspection duties, to assure that Airworthiness requirements are met, and ensure that all maintenance personnel perform work in accordance with the required Airworthiness Standards.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are cleaned after each shift for handover.
  • Ensure that all unserviceable components are properly tagged, drained and cleaned & returned to quarantine stores.
  • Complete and certify all necessary maintenance forms, log books and paperwork in accordance with Cargojets MCM, MPM and Procedures manual.
  • Shall be knowledgeable with all company and government manuals/documents pertaining to the work being performed at the station.
  • Responsible for the training of Line Maintenance employees.
  • Manage the required staffing levels, interview, and hire employees, conduct employee performance reviews and disciplinary measures in accordance with Company policies.
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include: shift rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, back-up for absent employees.
  • Responsible for managing all payroll documentation including overtime sheets, time-off requests and master payroll sheets for submission.
  • Coordinate Maintenance Shift Handovers.
  • Schedule and conduct employee meetings.
  • Responsible to meet shift workload requirements.
  • Responsible for the Quality Control of the work performed at the Base.
  • Communicate with other Duty managers, and Directors of Maintenance.
  • Ensure a clean and safe workplace for employees.
  • Ensure all GSE unserviceable equipment reported to the GSE department.
  • Report all SDR (Service Difficulty Report) findings to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • To maintain the sub-base library including technical and regulatory manuals.
  • To ensure that all maintenance records are completed correctly, filed and that applicable records are forwarded to the main office of Cargojet Airways.
  • Responsible to act as a Network Duty Manager for coordination with MCC & Base Manager.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Base Manager, Directors, or Vice Presidents of Maintenance.

Key Objectives:

  • Team Members are required to possess an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers licence issued by the Ministry of Transport (Canada) which permits them to certify aircraft as ready and is in sound condition for flight.
  • This is mechanical work at the skilled level involving the repair, rebuilding, overhaul, maintenance and servicing of aircraft operated by Cargojet and mechanical repair work on accessories, hangars, base equipment and machinery.
  • Assignments are made to employees by means of oral or written instructions.
  • Repair and maintenance and inspection of the condition of aircraft and engine, the making of repairs, replacements, and adjustments and the inspection of essential components such as electrical, avionics or hydraulic, pneumatic, engine systems, brakes and controls.
  • Performs and directs performance of structural repairs on the aircraft.
  • Certifies aircraft as airworthy in accordance with Ministry of Transport Standards.
  • Responsible for shop equipment, airside equipment and vehicles and maintenance support equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned on Cargojets fleet of aircraft and equipment in an efficient and effective manner with a high degree of quality.
  • To reduce or eliminate premature component failures and provide a high level of aircraft Dispatch Reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft.
  • Ensure that all Aircraft & equipment are maintained and serviced in a timely manner.
  • Carries out assignments of daily aircraft maintenance and overhaul programs.
  • Checks condition of aircraft and engine, makes repairs, replacements and adjustments, in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • May direct the work of several Aircraft Apprentices and Trades Helpers.

Key Competency Requirements:

  • Ability operate Aircraft and Engines and taxi Cargojets Aircraft.
  • Ability to Taxi and perform engine runs as approved by Cargojets Quality Assurance.
  • Required to lift weight 50 lbs (fifty pounds) for component replacements.
  • Ability to operate high lifts, fork-lifts to gain access to aircraft.

Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and inspection systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials and parts and the regulations governing their acceptance for registered aircraft and the process of quarantine action.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and fire prevention.
  • Ability to select and record data necessary to substantiate airworthiness.
  • Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Ability to sequence work programs.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Education normally obtained through years of progressive education and Post-Secondary Aircraft Technical Training and Aircraft Endorsement courses.
  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence issued by the Ministry of Transport.

Location & Work Environment:

  • Required to work in a hangar or outdoors.
  • Shift work.

Physical Standards:

  • Physically capable of performing the duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Transport Canada AME M2 License.
  • Type Rating or experience with B757, B767, B777.
  • Required to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
  • Ability to use computers – MS Word & Excel.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
