BDUK is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,800 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK Defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook and Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

Introduction:

This role is required to lead one shift of the BDUK MRO for the Apache AH-64E Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) (Line Maintenance), a training service delivered under the UK Apache Long Term training and Support Service (LTTSS). This is a full-time initially on shift position based in Middle Wallop, Hampshire supporting line maintenance.

Responsibilities:

This role will provide leadership, management, oversight, assurance and accountability for MRO aspects of the OCU maintenance organization.  The post will lead a team of engineers, technicians and other support staff to deliver safe, serviceable and airworthy aircraft, in the correct quantities, to deliver the OCU Flying Programme (FLYPRO).

Other duties include:

  • Managing employees performing customer support, logistics, technical, retrofit, repair, modification and maintenance activities within Product Support.
  • Developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures and setting operational goals.
  • Acquiring resources for projects and processes, providing technical management of suppliers and leading process improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Managing, developing and motivating team members.

Required Qualifications:

This post will require demonstrable, successful experience of aircraft maintenance operations, in a UK Defence or commercial context and sound technical, managerial and interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in management within a highly regulated aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of military/commercial airworthiness and regulatory systems.
  • Experience in working with CAMO and managing planning teams.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work against tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with supply systems and aircraft maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with military and company officials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in working in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Ability to obtain a UK security clearance.
  • Apache/Rotorcraft experience is desired

Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.
