Role Specific Details

This position is not required to be fully in-office and allows some remote work flexibility.

Role Summary

The Manager Duty Desk is responsible for executing on the strategy for maintaining consistency throughout the system for the duty desk team at Horizon. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes priorities for the team to ensure that policies and processes are compliant and consistent throughout the system.

Key Duties

  • Lead duty desk team with established objectives and priorities to create a roadmap of compliant and consistent policies, processes and practices that will be maintained throughout the system.

  • Execute on strategy to create, review and align the policies, processes and practices for the Duty Desk team across Horizon’s stations through policy creation and documentation.

  • Make decisions that ensure the administrative support provided by the Duty Desk, such as our processes for payroll and scheduling, are compliant our existing policies[KM1] , and federal and state law.

  • Shape the culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors. Influence positive employee relations through engagement and ensuring thorough and fair processes are used when handling employee concerns.

  • Develop people through effective performance management focusing on opportunities, continuous feedback & delegation.

  • Influence across the team by training station leaders and administrative supervisors in matters related to duty desk and training such as relief schedules, LOAs, and OJIs.

  • Provide written and verbal internal communication regarding policy and process changes to the Duty Desk team, station leaders or/and other internal customers, where [KM2] applicable.

  • Cultivate a positive “dotted line” relationship with the training, policies and procedures team by providing feedback and identifying ways to continuously improve payroll on programs they support.

  • Assign tasks and projects to the Duty Desk team while providing support, setting expectations and ensuring accountability.

  • Collaborate with the Manager of Resource Planning through bid launch transitions and planning.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in station operations.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) skills, with the ability to provide insight, recommendations and create collaborative relationships to solve complex challenges that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to understand the root causes of issues and resolve thoroughly.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.

  • Professional work ethic and demonstrated ability to work with all work groups while addressing people courageously, directly, and candidly.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Able and willing to travel up to 25 of the time.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

$71,600 --$118,150 / year

Pay Details

This position has the flexibility to be based in SEA, PDX, BOI, or GEG. The salary range will vary depending on where the new hire is based.

Salary range for SEA:

$78,750 - $118,150

Salary range for PDX/BOI/GEG:

$71,600 - $107,400

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
