Position Summary
The Boston Facilities Manager ensures the care and upkeep of JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities including the Terminal C and JetBlue Hangar structures as well as our catering facility north of the Airport. The primary focus should be to provide JetBlue Crewmembers with a safe, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and Customers with an award-winning ground experience. The Manager works in a fast paced but safety-conscious, strategic and tactical environment, ensuring that HVAC systems, baggage operations, baggage claim/make-up units, jetbridges, PCAir/Ground Power units are functioning and that contingency plans are in place when issues occur in all 3 facilities. During winter operations, the Manager will ensure that the business partners are updated on winter storm plans, coordinates with Station/Airport leadership on flight schedule/overnight aircraft needs and that the snow removal business partners are ready to execute as needed. The Manager plans budgets and schedules facility repairs and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials and other related costs. Reporting to the Director Facilities, the Manager will also help define the strategic and efficient improvement of JetBlue’s facility maintenance programs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all JetBlue buildings at Boston’s Logan Airport during airline operating hours (24 hours/day).
- Develop and maintain an Infrastructure Incident Response Book that provides a detailed list of steps to take when systems fail throughout the terminal including a prioritization list of who to call to respond, notification processes and follow-up reporting of updates. This Response Book would also address Infrastructures Property and Development (IPD)’s response to severe weather events that impact flight operations to include winter storm events.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all mechanical and electronic equipment at JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities including but not limited to terminal facilities and Hangar 9.
- Develop and oversee the execution of all contracts related to the operation of JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities including passenger boarding bridge maintenance, PCAir, GPU and belt systems.
- Guide and lead facility projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare and maintain operational budgets.
- Maintain and cultivate professional working relationships with and oversee work of business partners, contractors, and project managers and act as a point of contact and guidance regarding their work at Logan Airport.
- Interface with local stakeholders and leadership on a daily basis to coordinate project and operational activities.
- Develop construction and maintenance related financial documents.
- Prepare request for quotes (RFQ) and request for proposal (RFP) documents for design and construction services and manage the execution of construction projects including bidding, design, inspections and customer receivership.
- Perform plan reviews and provide written comments to airport maintenance directives.
- Review and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with JetBlue leadership and other key internal and external stakeholders. Interface with JetBlue Airport leadership daily to maintain an open communication pathway. Attend the daily/weekly Massport meetings with airlines and airport personnel. Develop relationships with relevant Massport teams to effectively execute the necessary work to maintain the terminal infrastructure needs.
- Manage and lead a team of shift work supervisors.
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for Crewmembers, and lead daily Crewmember coaching sessions.
