The Manager-on-Duty is responsible for overseeing supervisory staff within their assigned area, ensuring adequate staffing, addressing disciplinary matters, and fostering strong customer satisfaction through consistent feedback. They serve as a vital link between front-line supervisors and upper management, maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring all activities meet safety, security, quality, and employee relations standards.
They uphold compliance with TSA regulations and the company’s security program by enforcing audit requirements, understanding and implementing site-specific security plans, and ensuring staff display proper identification. The role also emphasizes fairness, respect, and equity in dealing with employees, customers, vendors, and third parties.
Additionally, the Manager-on-Duty ensures proper handling and storage of dangerous goods (DGR), including maintaining secure and organized DGR areas, verifying documentation for import/export shipments, ensuring correct segregation, and preparing essential documents like the Notification to Captain (NOTOC). They are also expected to respond to other reasonable requests from management.
