PURPOSE:

We are seeking an energetic and strong leader to manage the negotiation and acquisition of aircraft fuel purchasing at prices and performance levels that meet Avelo’s financial and operating objectives. You will also gather, analyze, and present anticipated fuel costs to assist in the decision-making process. Working closely with Airport Operations, you will also make recommendations on vendor selection and assist with on-going vendor management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage fuel supply vendors
  • Run fuel supply RFPs
  • Negotiate fuel prices and make awards
  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Troubleshoot supply issues when they arise
  • Determine alternate sources of fuel supply at critical airports
  • Identify opportunities to achieve savings
  • Establish relationships further down the supply chain, where possible
  • Track state fuel tax exemptions, applications and awards
  • Seek tax relief, where appropriate
  • Bid airport into-plane fuel services
  • Negotiate price and terms
  • Assist Airport Ops with on-going vendor performance management
  • Manage fuel supply at "into-storage" locations
  • Usage, inventory levels and average pricing
  • Nominate bulk fuel movements and/or purchases
  • Monitor fuel usage and charges by flight and airport
  • Audit bills against aircraft tickets, investigate and correct discrepancies
  • Approve weekly fuel supply invoices for payment
  • Track crude oil, refining margins and jet fuel prices
  • Chart current and historical prices weekly for senior management
  • Provide updated pricing by location to Dispatch in real time
  • Monitor pricing and awards for tankering purposes
  • Represent company on airport fuel consortiums
  • Provide analysis for member, non-member decisions
  • Evaluate member vs. non-member pricing at new airports
  • Monitor and improve options for ad hoc fuel purchases
  • Negotiate purchases for charter flights
  • Assist with IRROPs alternate airport arrangements
  • Interface with company fuel auditors
  • Notify QA of into-plane vendor selections, provide contact info
  • Assist with visit arrangements, if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist with sourcing GSE, deicing, ground handling and other airport services
  • Assist with other airline sourcing activities upon request 
Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience sourcing fuel services including market research, issuing requests for proposal (RFPs), negotiating contracts and on-boarding new vendors.
  • Experience managing on-going vendor contracts including the resolution of performance issues.
  • Keen business sense with an interest in market dynamics.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data. Background in finance or accounting highly desirable.
  • Experience presenting data/information to leadership to help in decision making processes.
  • Ability to successfully work cross-functionally with internal teams including Airport Ops, Tech Ops, Inflight, Project Management, Accounting, Finance & Legal.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, etc.).
