PURPOSE

We are seeking an energetic and strong leader to manage the negotiation and acquisition of airport vendor & ground support equipment contracts, and supply purchasing at prices and performance levels that meet Avelo’s financial and operating objectives. You will also gather, analyze, and present anticipated airport costs to assist in the decision-making process. Working closely with Airport Operations, you will also make recommendations on vendor selection and assist with on-going vendor management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage airport vendor contracts:
  • Run RFP processes for ground handling, deice, wheelchair and other airport vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, services, and performance expectations.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities with assistance from Airport Ops.
  • Work to achieve the optimal combination of high reliability and low-cost service.
  • Make timely awards of business, negotiate contracts and addendums.
  • Assist Airport Ops with on-going vendor performance management.
  • Manage ground support equipment (GSE) contracts:
  • Run RFPs for equipment leases and purchases, negotiate pricing and terms.
  • Negotiate GSE maintenance services and coordinate start up with Tech Ops.
  • Set up GSE shipment, unloading and commissioning.
  • Set up GSE fuel at company staffed locations.
  • Assist Tech Ops with GSE maintenance vendor performance management.
  • Track GSE inventory at each location and audit as necessary.
  • Oversee the Airport Ops and Inflight supply purchasing processes:
  • Establish distributed replenishment processes for supplies.
  • Consolidate vendors, negotiate pricing, improve reporting, etc.
  • Provide financial and qualitative analysis:
  • Support decision-making with analyses of markets, vendors, lease rate factors, etc.,
  • Keep contracts and terms organized for effective administration and timely action:
  • Interface with Airport Ops, Tech Ops, Inflight, Project Management, Accounting, Finance & Legal
  • Assist in the ground handling and GSE invoice approval process:
  • Assure charges are appropriate and resolve billing issues directly with vendors.
  • Interface with Airport Ops and Charter Ops on exceptions.
  • Participate in the station opening process:
  • Attend project management meetings to provide updates and take action items.
  • Monitor the purchase, delivery, and receipt of station supplies.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned:
  • Assist with fuel procurement and related matters.
  • Assist with other airline sourcing activities upon request.
Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience sourcing products or services including doing market research, issuing requests for proposal (RFPs), negotiating contracts and on-boarding new vendors.
  • Experience managing on-going vendor contracts including the resolution of performance issues.
  • Keen business sense with an interest in market dynamics.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data. Background in finance or accounting highly desirable.
  • Experience presenting data/information to leadership to help in decision making processes.
  • Ability to successfully work cross-functionally with internal teams including Airport Ops, Tech Ops, Inflight, Project Management, Accounting, Finance & Legal.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, etc.).
