Job SummaryReporting to the Assistant Vice President, Talent Management, the Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), plays a crucial role in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. The primary focus of this role is to create and maintain an environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. This position works closely with leadership, HR, and employees to develop and implement strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level of the organization. The Manager oversees the development of the DEIB roadmap and governance tools and ensures cooperate consistency and compliance with all related legislation, collective agreements, guidelines and policies. The role is responsible for advocating for DEIB initiatives at the leadership level, performing gap analysis, providing metrics, KPI’s and progress reporting to leadership with recommendations to facilitate decision making and corrective action.

In this role you will:

  • Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive DEIB strategy and roadmap aligned with the organization&39;s mission, vision, and values and identifies measurable annual program initiatives.
  • Leads, mentors, engages and manages a DEIB team and provides guidance on DEIB best practices and professional development.
  • Collaborates with leadership and business partners to integrate DEIB goals into overall business strategies and build diversity, equity and inclusion solutions in an effort to promote a culturally diverse and inclusive NAV Canada.
  • Leads the development of Diversity and Inclusion communications strategies internally and externally, in collaboration with communications, to enhance awareness and promote NAV Canada’s presence in DEIB support spaces.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to develop and implement strategies for attracting and retaining a diverse talent pool at all levels.
  • Develops strategies to identify and address bias and discrimination within the organization by creating plans and tools that will measurably raise awareness, facilitate conversation and allow employees to voice their concerns regarding diversity and inclusion.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of DEIB initiatives and develops, monitors and tracks DEIB analytics and shares trends that demonstrate the impact of related programs.
  • Oversees the DEIB program delivery in collaboration with leadership and business partners, utilizing transformational change management techniques, to enhance integration to training, talent management, development and retention programs and ensures corporate governance and consistency.
  • Sits on the national advisory committee to influence decision making and ensure alignment and effective implementation of DEIB projects.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with external organizations, communities, and stakeholders to advance NAV CANADA DEIB initiatives, share information, integrates best practices and supports the ongoing evolution and DEIB program enhancements.
  • Designs and delivers training programs to increase awareness and understanding of DEIB issues among employees at all levels.
  • Provides guidance and support to cross functional teams to ensure alignment, compliance, corporate governance and consistency as well as oversees the work of the DEIB Specialist. 

What you bring:

  • Completion of a university degree in a related subject (for example social science, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology, women’s studies, Indigenous studies, social work, human resources management, commerce) or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) designation or any DEI certification will be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience including advancing DEIB, employee resource groups (ERGs), developing action plans and strategy, consulting, planning, implementing, and maintaining DEI-related programs.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in effectively leading teams and inspiring others to achieve goals, with the ability to mentor and develop an engaged team
  • Experience advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives within a complex organization.
  • Experience working in a multi-unionized environment is desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of DEIB best practices, policies, as well as knowledge of relevant labour and employment legislation.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, cultural change and program/project management principles and best practices
  • Thorough understanding of effective governance frameworks to enable proper planning and alignment.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based at the Ottawa Head Office and is eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional Travel required
