Job Summary

 

The Manager, Ground OPS will oversee the development, implementation, maintenance and training of Ground Operations policies, procedures, and technology. This position works closely with corporate and field leadership to ensure station compliance with company standards, new system developments, and regulatory & safety requirements.

  • Review, design, implement and maintain policies and procedures in the Ground Service Operations Manual that are clear, accurate and timely for Airport Services to include: manual revisions, user reference material, paper, or web-based publications.
  • Oversee programs and regulatory requirements to ensure accuracy, standardization, and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate revisions, updates, and modifications to maintain program accuracy and integrity with other departments.
  • Collaborate with FAA and other departments to ensure cross functional efficiencies, policy alignment and FAA approval where appropriate. Proactively plan communication to frontline staff.
  • Collaborate, define, document, and disseminate timely notifications and/or memorandums to announce new or revised policies and procedures for Ground Operations.
  • Prepare documents for new system projects. Plan for and execute Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to test new procedures and technology to continuously improve operational performance. Build business cases leveraging data and analytics to demonstrate value proposition of PoCs which improve operational performance and/or realize cost savings for the airline.
  • Provide oversight for the design, development, and implementation of ground operations technology.
  • Oversee training material correlating with new technology and procedures. Approve course revisions made by instructional designers. Ensure curriculum reflects policy, procedure, and regulatory changes.
  • Deploy change management methodologies to foster adoption of new technologies. Build and deliver metrics and analytics to demonstrate station compliance and adoption rates of new procedures and technology. Must also be able to analyze data and performance metrics and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee testing support as needed. Develop and deliver communication and updated training materials as needed. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment in policies and manuals.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments). 

Qualifications

Education

 

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Aviation, Economics, and/or Statistics

 

Experience

 

1-3 years experience in Aviation (Ground Ops preferred)

 

Specialized Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Proficiency in Project Management, PowerBI or other visualization platforms highly preferred.
  • Problem Solving: Uses logic, data, and accurate analysis to solve difficult problems and provide efficient, cost-effective solutions.  Eliminates roadblocks and establishes contingency plans.
  • Proficient with computers: basic knowledge of word editing software, inventory sheets and email management.

Additional Competencies

  • Candidate must be a self-starter, work well with minimum supervision and be capable of consistently meeting deadlines under pressure while managing several programs and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent planning and organizational skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven and experienced people leader.
  • Familiar with project management methodologies.
  • Highly approachable professional demeanor In-depth knowledge of airport operations.
  • Domestic & International travel approximately 50 of the time
  • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
