Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the macro inventory planning and scheduling process according to the business plan, customer requirements, and material availability and forecast sales volumes.
- Carry out inventory control functions including planning aggregate inventory requirements in accordance with business plan sales objectives, balancing company goals (cost, quality, and delivery), participating in analysis of material procurement decisions, and developing inventory management data systems.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to inventory costing systems; perform valuation of incoming inventory; maintain inventory costing information in systems.
- Manage, plan, and report on the status of all inventory owned by the corporation; regularly analyze the aging of inventory and identify surplus material for disposal.
- Produce and maintain performance measures to graphically display strengths, weaknesses, and identify improvement opportunities in materials management.
- Coordinate design and implementation of supply chain-related quality systems; establish and implement operating policies and procedures needed to achieve strategic goals.
- Coordinate and liaise with other leadership roles to ensure production standards and goals are achieved.
- Cultivate on-going relationships with outside supplier and vendor organizations.
- Develop commodity strategies, conduct RFQs and evaluate supplier proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and inventory agreements with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective action and cost‑reduction projects.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on supplier qualifications.
- Maintain accurate purchase order data in ERP and support audit requirements.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, freight rates, and classifications with carriers for services and preferential rates. Investigate and implement new procedures and methods to reduce transportation costs.
- Audit and approve payment of freight bills.
Obtains and reviews quotes through a variety of processes, from informal RFQ (Request for Quotation), through to full tendering and evaluation.
Initiates purchase orders and works with suppliers to monitor and/or expedite delivery; conducts follow-up with suppliers to resolve any delivery, quality, or cost problems.
Communicates product delivery issues quickly and across all levels of the organization.
Engages, supports and obtains agreement from key stakeholders in respect of Supply Chain contract implementation.
- Continually strives to lower material costs, improve supplier quality and delivery, and reduce the supplier base by working supplier rationalization projects.
- Pursues supplier consolidation or tiered supplier models and negotiates contracts with a view to reduce cost and obtain the best possible terms and conditions.
What You’ll Need:
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley and Government Contracting Purchasing System Review (CPSR) compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and Small Business Goal Objectives.
- Proficient in developing and training purchasing policies and procedures.
- Skilled in creating and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Experience facilitating and managing large, multi-year contract bids.
- Experience tracking vendor performance and initiating vendor corrective actions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills for a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and operate with professionalism and confidentiality.

Comprehends and reacts to reports on the following measures of performance for assigned inventory and/or supplies: overall stock levels; inventory turns; aged inventory; due date compliance; shortages; cost savings opportunities.
Produces a variety of ad-hoc reporting. Presents and/or assists with preparing presentations of various data and reporting for all levels of management.
Understands procurement and supplier sourcing and approval policies and procedures; interfaces with suppliers, staff, and management to obtain appropriate documentation and approvals.
Reviews and recommends updates to company instructions and material policies and procedures.
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
Carries out other duties as assigned.
General
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field required
- A minimum of 7+ years of supply chain management experience preferred.
- 4+ years of proven leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working in procurement is a plus.
- Aviation-related procurement experience is a plus.
