Job Description:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. This role involves analyzing data, forecasting demand, developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and implementing strategies to improve supply chain performance.


Essential Functions:

  • Success in this role will involve collaboration and teamwork with key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains detailed Company inventories of materials, parts and services.
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department, including vendors and suppliers, needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Establish and manage performance metrics for measurement, comparison, and evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain to ensure department performance to company goals.
  • Maintains required quantity of materials, parts and services to meet production goals.
  • Works with customizable, low volume, specialty environment.
  • Generates a budget, seeks approval, executes the approved budget, and maintains responsibility of the budget.
  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests and enacts improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the Company through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and supports needs of stakeholders (programs, operations, engineering, etc.) to provide information and guidance on availability and cost of materials, parts and services.
  • Develops policies and procedures to encourage efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements required changes to processes to implement these policies and procedures.
  • Assesses the need for material-handling requirement including equipment and staffing; ensures materials and parts storage in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Focuses on achieving best value for material, parts and services and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; in collaboration with other departments, identifies and qualifies new suppliers in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company polices.
  • Hires and trains departmental personnel.
  • Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with Company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Lead a team of 3 to 6 buyers
  • Responsible for Reviewing and negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers
  • Accountable for Training new employees and support team members as necessary
  • Responsible for source selection and finding suppliers and vendors that meet the goals of the company
  • Accountable for raw material inventory value
  • Accountable for establishing and maintaining procurement parameters in MRP system
  • Responsible for making make v buy recommendations consistent with business make v buy strategy
  • Responsible for developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business
  • Responsible for Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors
  • Accountable for evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries
  • Responsible for communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production
  • Accountable for conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
  • Accountable for developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
  • Responsible for supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments Responsible for working closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable
  • Responsible for implementing best practices in the SCM organization
  • Responsible for Change Management
  • Ensure supply chain processes meet legal requirements and standards
  • Interfaces with Supply Chain Staff, Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Senior Level Management, Accounts Payable and Contracts
  • Responsible for Maintaining and communicating Department Metrics
  • Prepares and presents at Cross Functional Leadership meetings and flows actions to Procurement staff.
  • Responsible for Monitoring and Approving timecards, and conducts annual and semi-annual performance reviews and appraisals

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS
  • Working knowledge of Government Property Administration
  • Working knowledge of Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) applicability
  • Working knowledge of Teaming Agreements
  • Possess knowledge of turboprops and business jets.

Education / Certifications:

  • A bachelors degree in business, engineering, or related field. A masters degree in a related field is desired.
  • A certificate in one or more of the following areas is desired. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation, Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) program or the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program.

Experience:

  • 10 or more years of experience in manufacturing in a leadership role or 4 or more years of experience in supply chain management before entering a Supply Chain Manager role.
  • Experience with CPSR audits.
  • Experience in Hybrid Commercial / FAR compliant environment a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning programs can make a potential Supply Chain Manager more competitive

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment

Security Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
