The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the logistics site to ensure efficient and effective fulfillment, shipping, and inventory management. This role ensures that all logistics processes meet quality, safety, and productivity standards while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Manages and coordinates operational strategies. Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports, records, and data required for plan activities. Develops and implements policies, practices, procedures, and operating goals. Approves and allocates resources based on business priorities. Comprehensive knowledge of the fields concepts and principles. Performs complex tasks typically following established processes. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions. Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies. Typically requires BA and 5-7 years.
Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight:
Manage day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations (receiving, storage, inventory, order fulfillment, and dispatch).
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take action to ensure productivity and efficiency goals are met.
Optimize workflows, layouts, and resources to improve throughput and reduce costs.
- Team Management:
Supervise and lead warehouse staff, including shift supervisors, forklift operators, and pick-pack teams.
Conduct training, performance reviews, and scheduling.
Foster a positive and accountable work environment with a focus on safety and teamwork.
- Inventory & Supply Chain:
Oversee inventory control and accuracy.
Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure materials and goods are received and distributed on time.
Maintain stock levels to meet operational needs without excess.
- Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Lead site safety initiatives and incident investigations.
Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections.
- Continuous Improvement:
Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements using lean principles or other methodologies.
Lead or support technology integration (e.g., WMS, barcode systems).
Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the site.
- Communication & Reporting:
Report site performance, issues, and opportunities to senior management.
Coordinate with cross-functional departments (transportation, customer service, finance, etc.).
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly operational reports.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain, business management, or related field (preferred).
15+ years of experience in US Army logistics or warehouse operations; 8-10 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory systems, and logistics processes.
Proficiency in WMS, ERP systems, US Army LIS, and MS Office.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
