The Paint Supervisor assists the Paint Manager with overseeing all aircraft painting operations within the MRO facility. This role ensures that aircraft paint jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with customer specifications, FAA regulations, and company standards. The Paint Supervisor leads a team of technicians and coordinates with other departments to support maintenance schedules and turnaround times.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the paint crew, including preparation, masking, priming, painting, detailing, and finishing tasks.
- Review work orders and project specifications to ensure accurate execution and quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, OSHA standards, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Maintain paint shop inventory and order materials, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Perform inspections to ensure paint quality meets customer and regulatory standards.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations for paint technicians.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance, Planning, and Maintenance departments to support on-time delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and completed work in the maintenance tracking system.
- Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance of paint equipment and booths.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school preferred.
- 5+ years of aircraft painting experience in an MRO or aviation maintenance environment.
- 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
Mathematical Skills:
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Computer Skills:
- Basic computer aptitude preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
- Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
- Frequent exposure to seasonal weather.
