To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join our team as a Payroll Supervisor. This role oversees the Payroll Specialists, ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. The Payroll Supervisor operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks to implement process improvements. The Payroll Supervisor optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching, counseling, and solutions to business issues/problems with minimal referral to management. The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree with a minimum of four years of payroll experience. This position reports to the Director, Payroll.
Essential Duties:
Supervise the daily operation of the payroll department, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time
Schedule and assign work to payroll staff, monitor workloads, and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines
Maintain and ensure accuracy of payroll records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and files in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
Provide guidance, counseling, or corrective actions to staff as needed to ensure optimal performance
Identify areas for skill development and provide or arrange for additional training as required
Ensure compliance with all government-required documentation and reporting deadlines
Collaborate with Human Resources (HR), Finance, and other departments to develop customized reports that support decision-making and strategic planning
Ensure that all payroll reports are up-to-date and reflect the most current data available
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
Associates degree with four (4) years of payroll experience
Three (3) years of Supervisory-level payroll processing experience
Strong leadership and team management skills, with demonstrated success in coaching, mentoring, and developing staff
Experience with multi-state payroll and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex payroll challenges and implement effective solutions

Starting Rate:
