About Our Group and Role

The NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) team is part of our Enterprise Quality organization that focuses on ensuring part integrity and compliance to engineering type design by utilizing non destructive methods (UT, ET, MT, PT, and RT) to test our aircrafts and parts during production. In addition to the NDT Methods, Technicians utlize Solumina, SAP, and Microsft Suite. Our Techs work with many cross functional teams and suppliers, strong communication skills are required. The manager for this role will be managing a team of direct and indirect reports for our production team in Savannah, Georgia (approximately 30 person team). Great opportunity to be a part of playing an integral role in all lines of aircraft in currently in production. The team uses Catia v5&6 and would be preferable to have the skillset. Given the responsibillities and knowledge of NDT, Ultrasound, Eddy Current, Radiography, Magentic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant knowledge is preferred.


Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related curriculum (Aviation Sciences, Quality, Engineering, Management, etc.) required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 4 years quality assurance/control, manufacturing operations and/or military operations experience is required., of which at least two (2) years are in a supervisory capacity. Aerospace industry experience preferred..

Position Purpose:

Manages the strategic operations of one or more departments to meet production quality requirements in an aircraft manufacturing operation. Interacts with internal and external customers to provide technical support. Executes company policies and procedures while constantly seeking process and performance improvements. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations. Ensures a safe, conforming and quality product is delivered to our customers.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitors all production quality functions conducted within assigned area of responsibility.
  2. Manages all aspects of assigned quality personnel to include hiring, work assignments, workspace, equipment, training, performance appraisals, career development and counseling.
  3. Coordinates scheduling and manpower assignments to aircraft/assemblies as required. by production. Monitors workflow and ensures that standards/expectations are met; assist Coordinators in resolving issues.
  4. Oversees the conduct of conformity inspections related to production operations. .
  5. Actively identifies and completes process improvement projects related to achieving improved quality or efficiency.
  6. Collaborates with operations, engineering, finance, materials and others to ensure that safety, quality, schedule and budget are met and problems are resolved. .
  7. Ensures that department has adequate resources to perform assigned tasks.
  8. Provides input for the development and execution of the business unit strategic plans. .
  9. Maintains a FOD free environment.
  10. Develops processes to identify, analyze and correct quality trends.
  11. Promotes, encourages and leads employees towards a continuous improvement culture.
  12. Supports the SMS program by enhancing employee health and safety, product safety and promoting risk reduction; participates openly in safety investigations, and immediately reports workplace hazards and make suggestions for control; cooperates and contributes toward the overall success of the Safety program.
  13. Prepares employees and work groups to meet future requirements through training and employee development.

  1. Supports and promotes the operating priorities as identified by the leadership team. .
  2. Promotes a strong, healthy workforce through utilization of the Ergonomist and wellness resources. .
  3. Supports corporate sustainability initiatives. .
  4. Supports the Business Continuity Plan. .
  5. Achieves company diversity goals/objectives through proper hiring, promoting, and compensation practices. .
  6. Provides oversight and final approval for all personnel within operations selected for Q or PQ stamps. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. An Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is not required. but may be used in combination with four (4) years of related quality experience (in addition to the experience requirements below) to offset the Bachelors degree.
  2. Thorough knowledge of quality policies, procedures and all related technical data required.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  4. Knowledge of CMP, ASC, CB, ADs and other quality and manufacturing systems preferred.
  5. Proficient computer skills.
