An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Mission Enabling Products (MEP), the Deployables Operating Unit is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites of all classes. Products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors. Our products are on virtually every U.S. satellite built in the last 20 years. We are seeking a Production Manager to support Manufacturing and Process operations at our Oxnard, CA site.

Overview
Reporting to the OneSat Manufacturing Value Stream Leader, the Production Manager will coordinate the daily tasks of manufacturing technicians for production operations relating to the program and product deliverables. They will collaborate with the VSL to update manufacturing documents and training procedures incorporating updates when necessary. They will communicate company and department commitments to production personnel and will monitor and report completion of tasks through status update meetings and program reviews. Our ideal candidate is hands on and leads with compassion and understanding.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accountability for meeting or exceeding the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employee and Cost expectations of internal and external customers across assigned programs. Support and drive continuous improvements to support year-over-year SQDEC goals
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers for real time problem solutions
Develop talent through the performance management process focusing on individual and team goal settings to include coaching and mentoring, training, motivating and monitoring performance
Provide immediate feedback to personnel on a consistent basis regarding performance
Maintain department training requirements and deploy resources as needed
Hands-on support for critical tasks and/or critical path programs
Remove work stoppages and constraints that occur on the manufacturing floor
Understand general milestones of production schedule to make on floor decisions and reassign personnel based on availability and priority
Act as the point person for floor escalations through coordination of cross-functional needs (Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Control)
Coordinate and communicate status and constraints between shifts
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or production operations. An additional four years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience in a supervisory role with direct reports
Experience working in the Aerospace industry
Knowledge and experience developing and executing process standards, and risk management identification and mitigation
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to solve problems and drive continuous improvements
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends
Basic understanding of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of 5S and Lean methodology
Spacecraft component manufacturing experience
Understanding of soldering J-standards
Experience working in a cleanroom environment
Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
