POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the operation of the quality system and has the authority to act on behalf of the repair station. The Manager, Quality Control/Chief Inspector is certificated in accordance with 14 CFR Part 65. The Manager, Quality Control/Chief Inspector has the final authority in the maintenance release and approval for return to service of airframes, engines, propellers, appliances and the components/parts thereof.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and maintains a program that periodically surveys the quality management system to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements (FAA, EASA, AS9110, etc.)
  • Manages day to day activity of floor quality inspectors
  • Manages NDT departmental priorities with assigned resources
  • Directing, planning, and laying out details of inspection standards, methods, procedures in accordance with the RSQCM, customers and manufacturer’s specifications, and applicable 14 CFRs. Duties may be delegated to qualified persons, as necessary.
  • Ensuring that Inspection personnel document maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations in accordance with the applicable 14 CFR.
  • Maintaining a current Signature Authority file. Ensuring QC Inspectors are trained and proficient with the RSQCM and the applicable 14 CFR.
  • Ensuring QC Inspectors comply with the FAA-approved Aspire Training Manual.
  • Ensuring periodic checks and/or tests are accomplished on inspection tooling and calibration test equipment used by the repair station to make airworthiness determinations on articles. Ensuring that no defective or unserviceable articles or materials are used in articles approved for return to service by the repair station.
  • Ensuring timely reporting to the FAA of any suspected unapproved parts (SUP’s). Ensuring malfunction/defect reports are filed in accordance with 14 CFR.
  • Ensuring that obsolete parts, damaged parts, or expired materials are rejected, tagged with Rejected Tag, segregated, and processed for disposition and/or scrapped IAW the RSQCM requirements.
  • Reviews the RSQCM and initiates revisions as required due to changes in processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Supervises and directs assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance; manages personnel decisions in conjunction with HR including hiring, terminations, wage decisions, and promotions; conducts performance appraisals as required; formulates and implements employee corrective actions as needed
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and certifications
  • 6+ years of related experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) license


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul industry (14 CFR Part 145 MRO)
  • Additional related training, education or certifications
  • Familiarity with FAA Quality Management Systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

Standing extended time periods. Walking for long distances. Using upper body to press against something with steady force. Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects. Use of upper body and back muscles to lift objects.

Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Local travel may be required for this position

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a post offer DOT drug test upon hire.
