Lead a team of skilled inspectors, oversee high-impact inspections, and collaborate directly with customers and regulatory agencies in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and 12-hour schedules. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work any shift based on operational needs. Some schedules may qualify for shift differential. Overtime—both scheduled and unscheduled, including holidays—may also be required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Research technical data and performs aircraft inspections, flightline operations, and shop work in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures.
  • Inspects parts and materials used in the maintenance, modification, and configuration of aircraft and equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards, allowable tolerances, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Records inspection data on forms, reports, and inspection tags. Reports any irregularities to the Lead Inspector that could cause injury or compromise aircraft safety.
  • Ensures that all maintenance records are completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Verifies that Required Inspection Items (RIIs) are properly identified on all work cards, in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Ensures that all Work-In-Progress Conformity Records are accurately documented for the assigned shift.
  • Performs receiving inspections as required.
  • Tests the tightness of airframe connections using hand tools and inspects part fitment using flashlights and mirrors.
  • Examines the assembly, installation, and adjustment of ailerons and rudders to ensure compliance with accepted standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Verifies the accuracy of component installations in powerplant and hydraulic systems using precision tools such as protractors, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Signs inspection tags to approve units or records the reason for rejection.
  • Ensures the complete and accurate completion of all required forms, reports, and records (e.g., FAA Form 337, FAA Form 8130-3, SDR, ect.)
  • Enforces all Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Conducts facility audits to ensure safety and policy compliance.
  • Coordinates with customer representatives as needed.
  • Assumes the duties of the Chief Inspector or Lead Inspector in their absence.
  • Assists the Chief Inspector with the training and development of Receiving Inspectors, Aircraft Inspectors, and NDT inspectors.
  • Ensures proper documentation of training is recorded and signed by the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Performs maintenance duties at off-site locations when assigned to temporary duty.
  • Conducts general maintenance of company equipment and housekeeping tasks.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:  

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, maintenance documentation systems, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate mechanical components with precision instruments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft inspections required.
  • Valid Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Additional technical training or a bachelors degree in aviation maintenance or a related field is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: 

  • Precision measuring instruments: micrometers, calipers, gauges, and protractors.
  • Standard hand tools for aircraft maintenance and inspection.
  • Computer systems and software used for documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE): goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, and breathing apparatus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Primary work locations include aircraft maintenance hangars, flightline areas, and the Avionics Shop.
  • Exposure to potential hazards, including: high-intensity noise levels, extreme temperature variations, electrical currents and radar waves, hazardous materials (per Safety Data Sheets), and moving machinery and aircraft components.
  • Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Work may be performed on multiple shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • May require temporary duty assignments away from base.

OTHER DUTIES: 

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate. 
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
