Manager, Quality Inspection

Assist Quality Management in planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for the manufacture, inspection and certification of aircraft and components (products and/or articles). Supervisory oversight is to be performed in accordance with company and departmental policies, with a strict adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. Supervises inspection resources within the Quality Department; is responsible for the training and guidance of employees to ensure inspection activities are carried out in an efficient and timely manner as well as in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Manager, Quality Inspection

Job Duties

  • Coordinate, plan, and support Quality Leads and Inspectors regarding the manufacture and inspection of aircraft and/or components (products and/or articles)
  • Manage a team of 60&43; inspectors across several shifts, including weekends
  • Organize workflow in support of the production schedule and ensure employees understand their duties, responsibilities, and delegated tasks.
  • Prepare and submit employee performance reports
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and/or coaching as required
  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in compliance with corporate and department plans and vision and communicate those to subordinates
  • Communicate information from upper management to inspection personnel and vice versa
  • Be well versed in company and departmental policies/procedures, knowledgeable in applicable regulatory requirements, and ensure that this is communicated, understood, and adhered to by personnel
  • Work with Quality Management and HR to hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and mentor personnel as required.
  • Ensure accurate personnel records are maintained
  • Set up data collection and analysis reports for feedback loops to inspectors and mechanics for improvement activities
  • Work closely with customer quality organizations at a management level on a day-to-day basis

Profile and other information related to the position

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience with Boeing and/or Gulfstream preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently required in order to perform the job
  • 5 years related experience required
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Previous Supervisory and/or Lead experience required
  • May be required to work outside of the normal scheduled shift to support production and/or certification activities
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Advanced proficiency with excel, reporting, and analysis
