Position SummaryReporting to the Manager, Ramp Operations, the Main Terminal Ramp Supervisor will be leading, directing and coordinating the efforts of all services for airlines as contracted. Take accountability for safety, operation standards and policy implementation for the ramp operations, ensuring that efficiency and on-time performance expectations are met.Personal CharacteristicsHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesAble to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and provide sound judgmentAble to build and maintain lasting relationships with all departments, business partners and customersStrong leadership and supervisory skillsSuperior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasksHigh level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountabilityStrong problem solving and analytical skillsAble to effectively train and develop personnel within their departmentWilling to take initiative to make personal and organizational improvementKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAssume leadership of all daily activities performed on the ramp and work collaboratively with the team to provide coaching and mentorship with the objective of on-time performanceParticipate in daily toolbox talksEstablish shift assignments for employeesEnsure that services provided are entered and tracked accurately for each flightOversee aircraft grooming to ensure that cleanliness standards are met and maintainedEnsure that crews are being briefed before flightsOversee the safe and efficient daily frontline operations of the Ramp departmentResponsible for ground handling of aircraft, loading and unloading of cargo and baggage and the organization of the baggage room and apronSupervise and mentor the accurate loading and unloading of aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements and aircraft manufacturer specifications in an efficient mannerMaximize cargo payload while maintaining on-time performance, all without jeopardizing safety or regulatory complianceEnsure continuous compliance with safety policies and regulations, while properly utilizing equipment and materialsMaintain Certification of Dangerous Goods regulations and requirements, particularly as it relates to aircraft loading requirementsActively participate and offer suggestions and/or recommendations towards department improvements, e.g. attending operational meetings, safety meetingsEnsure that all new and existing employees are trained and supplied with necessary resources to obtain a RAIC and applicable AVOP, safety equipment, and electronic communication devicesEnsure that ground support equipment is available and functioning to support operationsProvide assistance and support for any/all staff performance and disciplinary issues that may arise in the Ramp DepartmentPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsMust possess valid driver’s licenseMust be able to qualify for and obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)Must have either heavy equipment or main deck cargo loader experienceJet or larger aircraft experience considered an asset737 combi mod experience considered an assetIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetPrevious supervisory experience is requiredKnowledge of Amelia computer system is considered an assetCultural Diversity training considered an assetAirline experience considered an assetForklift license or completed applicable training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleWork performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all weather conditionsWork performed in multiple environments. Contact with staff and the general public.Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephoneIn good general health and the ability to lift and bend, carrying loads of up to 75lbsAbility to carry and operate a radioShiftwork may be required (days, evenings and/or night shift)Work around and with machines and loud noisesWear safety equipment as required (e.g. hearing protection, safety vest, protective footwear, and ramp passes when on ramp)
