Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Field Operations, the Regional Operations Director is responsible for the oversight of operations, personnel, and resources of their assigned regions. Essential functions include leadership, direct influence on safety, facilitating regular communications, and coordination of operations with hospital partners and joint ventures. This position is responsible for being the key leader in assuring coordinated operations and resource management in collaboration with aviation, clinical, communications, and maintenance leadership. The Regional Operations Director is responsible for supporting and furthering the overall objectives and vision of Apollo MedFlight with the highest regard to fiscal responsibility. The Regional Operations Director is the key leader and ultimately responsible for the success of their assigned region.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

 

Performance Management

o Assist in the development of goals and objectives for assigned Apollo MedFlight base(s) consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

o In coordination with the Regional Aviation Manager, Regional Maintenance Manager and Clinical Manager (where applicable), acts as a dotted line supervisor to regional personnel of all disciplines. This includes task management, professional development, assessments, counseling, and disciplinary action as required.

o Assists in training staff as needed.

 

Metrics and Reporting

o Completes data analysis and oversees special projects and key management reports.

 

Conflict Resolution

o Responsible for problem solving and follow-up on operational issues through collaboration with the appropriate personnel.

 

Recruitment and Staffing

o Will be involved in recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff.

 

Policy and Procedure

o Upholds Apollo policies and procedures.

o In conjunction with the Director of Safety, will be accountable for ensuring corporate Safety Management System activities are being effectively applied by staff.

o Communicates and collaborates effectively with the Medical Director(s), Clinical Manager, Regional Aviation Manager, Regional Maintenance Manager and Base Managers to develop and monitor a continuous quality improvement process for all operations.

 

Company Partnerships and Employee Relations

o In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice-President of Field Operations, the ROD acts as a key interface with hospital partner (s) focused on customer service, communication, and coordination of operations.

o Establishes an environment of proactive internal and external communication, consistent processes and cohesive flow of information while promoting a culture of professionalism.

o As coordinated with appropriate program leadership, participates in regular meetings to include quality assurance, safety committee, business development, and other meetings as necessary for the success of the relationship and the program.

 

Expense Management

o Responsible for coordination of operations for assigned bases and aircraft. Includes oversight of base quarters, hangers, equipment, stock/supplies, maintenance needs, and housekeeping.

o Responsible for cost management, profit and loss oversight and is a steward of Apollo resources.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Three years of Air Medical Experience

Three years operational management/supervisory experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare management, or another related field. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Must be computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office or similar applications.

Must live or be willing to live within the assigned region. Region defined as Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi 

Must obtain Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) within 36 months of hire.

Must complete Just Culture for Managers Training within 3 months of hire.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Master’s degree in business or related field.

Five years’ operational management/supervisory experience.

Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE).

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

 

Inside, office environment.

The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk or workstation while performing tasks on a computer, such as data entry, email communication, and documentation. Should be comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting.

The ability to type and use a keyboard extensively. Proficiency in typing and computer skills are essential for this role.

Frequently engage in verbal and written communication with employees’ management and external parties. Clear and effective communication skills are essential.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Occasionally need to handle files, paperwork, or office supplies, which could involve lifting light objects.

Must be able to read documents, computer screens, and other materials.

Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule when needed (evening/weekends).
