The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead a campaign development for Middle East opportunities working closely with both the wider BD and Draken capability development teams. Ideally the individual will have a military background and/or previous experience in working in the defence industry in a business development role with clear evidence of successful business win. This role which may be based in the Middle East requires extensive travel across the Middle East and globally. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of regional strategies for new market entry and market development in the Middle East, and as directed in response to the evolution of the Draken business growth strategy.
  • Linked to the preceding, identification and development of customer requirements for Draken’s core business through the development of a regionally based capture plan.
  • Identification of industry partners and/or intermediaries in the Middle East to support the successful delivery of Middle East opportunities.
  • Represents Draken at Trade Shows and networking events.
  • Review and support technology roadmap development and updates through proactive engagement with the Draken Programme Team and market research of technologies and potential platforms for Middle East military requirements.
  • Act as the capture input into customer proposal development and/or lead proposal development as required to support business win.
  • Provides written submissions as part of the Draken bid proposal procedure.
  • Represents the Director Business Development as required at both internal team Draken meetings and key customer engagements.

Experience / skills / qualifications

  • Middle East business development experience of no less than 5 years with demonstrable success in business win
  • Ideally a Military veteran and  Aircrew experience is highly desirable.
  • Customer focused
  • Arabic speaker is desirable
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible to travel - the candidate may be be based in the Middle East for a period of time
