Job overview and responsibilities
Responsible for demonstrating advanced authoring skills to translate a range of complex Engineering design and production solutions into various types of technical illustrations that meet industry standards for accuracy, configuration, compliance, and specifications to support the execution of maintenance activities on the United fleet.
- Experienced CAD focal performs a variety of moderately complex tasks related to the creation and revision of projects including, but not limited to: configuration drawings, part drawings, wiring diagrams/schematics, placard artwork, and auditing aircraft installations
- Establishes and maintains strong business relationships with various Tech Ops customers including, but not limited to, Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering and other internal/external customers including Boeing and Airbus to facilitate content delivery to support an evolving operation
- Manages workload balance in accordance with documented policies, procedures and business requirements, maintaining the highest level of compliance and safety
- Collect source documents, revise drawings, illustrations, and placards for the content library based on requirements according to approved change request documents and internal standard procedures
- Demonstrate high proficiency knowledge to ensure compliance to company and regulatory standards are maintained through proofing/peer reviews, audit content adherence to defined standards, and providing constructive feedback to document originators
- Engage with OEM and vendor customers at industry level events to promote United’s participation with the transformation of digital documentation
- Initiates projects related to improvement in tools, systems, processes, and change management that deliver efficiency for the operation of safe and reliable aircraft
NOTE: This position can be based at either location: CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL or IAH Hangar in Houston, TX
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelors degree or related experience
- Technical Writing, Aviation Management, Drafting Technology or Computer-Aided Design, Designer, Illustrator, Engineering, Aviation, or relevant work experience
- AutoCAD or equivalent
- 3 - 5 years
- AutoCAD, Detail precision, Visualization and Spatial Awareness, Knowledge of Engineering Principles, Technical Drawing and Drafting Standards or equivalent industry experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
