ABOUT THE JOB

POSITION: Senior Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician (Sr. HVAC Technician)

FORM OF EMPLOYMENT: On Fixed Term Contract

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

BSC degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized technical college or university with a minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC maintenance

OR

Diploma/Level IV in Electrical or Mechanical filed of studies from a recognized technical college or university with a minimum of 6 years of experience in HVAC maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate, service, repair, and install HVAC equipment in compliance with Ethiopian Airlines policies and procedures.
• Monitor HVAC system performance and building environment using the energy management control system.
• Execute day-to-day maintenance programs to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Conduct effectiveness tests and safety inspections on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Commission new HVAC equipment.
• Repair, replace, and troubleshoot existing HVAC equipment.
• Develop and maintain a service schedule.
• Respond to service requests and work orders, meeting response time and quality requirements.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems.
• Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
• Clean, adjust, and repair systems, performing warranty services as needed.
• Maintain daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Ensure compliance with appliance standards & Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Assist with customer queries.
• Proficiently read schematics, wiring, and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to work after hours, weekends, and public holidays with little or no notice.
• Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge:
• Service, repair, operation, and installation of HVAC systems.
• Preventive maintenance handling mechanisms.
• Workplace safety requirements.
• Skills:
• Skilled in using common HVAC tools.
• Understanding advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Abilities:
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
