Position Overview

u200Bu200BThe Senior Maintenance Manager (SMM) is responsible for all airworthiness-related activities conducted within the NFTC Maintenance organization as assigned by the TAA. This role is also responsible for the Technical Training Coordinator (TTC), reviewing the training requirements for all Fleet Maintenance personnel and to co-ordinate development and delivery of training related to aircraft systems operation and maintenance. Responsible to maintain and monitor all training records to ensure airworthiness requirements are met. Responsible to monitor the completion of DTAES corrective actions raised within the Fleet Maintenance organization.u200B

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Interpret airworthiness standards and processes as they apply to the NFTC maintenance organization.

  • Ensure that the Maintenance Process Manual (MPM) is in compliance with all applicable airworthiness rules and standards.

  • Ensure the procedures utilized within the maintenance organization are in compliance with the MPM and all essential procedures are documented.

  • Ensure that maintenance-related tasks and technical airworthiness functions are conducted in accordance with the MPM and the applicable procedures.

  • Ensure that the authorization of personnel conducting maintenance-related activities or technical airworthiness functions which affect the airworthiness of any NFTC fleet aircraft is in compliance with the MPM and applicable procedures.

  • Initiate actions to correct any maintenance practice or procedure that may compromise the airworthiness of any NFTC fleet aircraft.

  • Monitor the competencies of individuals to whom technical airworthiness authority has been granted and of the organization as a whole and informing the TAA of any deficiencies, advising the applicable organizational authorities of actions taken.

  • Ensure that personnel within the maintenance organization receive the necessary training and remain knowledgeable and skilled in the conduct of airworthiness related activities and technical airworthiness functions.

  • If applicable, ensure that work performed by external agents who are not TAA accredited is conducted in accordance with approved procedures. The SMM is responsible for the tasks to be performed, the quality of work and the satisfaction of airworthiness certification requirements for the technical airworthiness functions.

  • Authorize trained, qualified, and competent individuals within the maintenance organization to serve as PRAA to assign technical airworthiness authority to eligible individuals to conduct technical airworthiness functions on behalf of the TAA.

  • Approve and issue any procedures that could affect the airworthiness of the NFTC aircraft fleets; and

  • Revoke airworthiness authorizations in accordance with para 2.2.8 of the MPM.

u200Bu200BHigh attention to detail is required for the interpretation of the TAM airworthiness requirements and the subsequent changes to our MPM. All AFM processes and procedures that have an effect on the airworthiness of both fleets of aircraft in both locations must be reviewed and approved by the SMM.u200B

As a condition of employment, candidate must successfully pass a security evaluation per the requirements of the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada and to CAE being able to obtain all necessary re-transfer authorization in compliance with US ITAR regulations.
