Position Summary:

The Senior Manager Airports Services and Planning reports to the Director of Airport Improvement and Business Partner Development.  The Senior Manager Airports Services and Planning partners with all Airports Directors to support the broader Airports team by developing and managing critical business partner and support functions across the JetBlue network.  The Senior Manager will be responsible for planning and having oversight over key Airports support functions including Airport Contracts, Analysis, Cargo, Ground Service Equipment (GSE), Deicing, and Into Plane Fueling – each supporting the Customer Experience vision of our Crewmembers delivering a personal, helpful, and simple travel experience for our Customers.

 

The Senior Manager Airports Services and Planning is a key member of the Airports team that partners with the Commercial Team, Strategic Sourcing, as well as all Regional Managers across the JetBlue network to ensure we are meeting our operations goals and managing and incentivizing our business partner relationships. The Senior Manager is also responsible for coordinating with Corporate Safety and Audit to ensure that all support services are operating within all regulatory requirements and standards. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

    • Develop and/or oversee critical business partner relationships across multiple functions and services to ensure business requirements are reflected in all contracts, proper and impactful service-level agreements are negotiated, and all contracts are compliant with regulations and performance standards.
    • Oversee the field operation of all support services to their respective contractual obligations, execute service-level agreements with business partners as appropriate, and continually assess and modify contracts to properly support the needs of the operation.
    • Lead, support, and mentor the Airport Services teams, including Analysis, Cargo, Deicing, Into Plane Fuel, and Ground Service Equipment to ensure regulatory compliance, adherence to policy, effectiveness, and continuous improvement to support the evolving needs of the company
    • Accountable to leadership for ensuring the safety and security of ground handling operations
    • Ensures that policies are conducted in accordance with applicable federal regulations and standards
    • Partner with the Industrial Engineering and Continuous Improvement teams to drive process alignment, efficiencies, and improvements throughout the Airports workgroup
    • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement and development of their succession plan and for the department
    • Other duties, including potentially other department oversight, as assigned

 

Job Requirements:
:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related area; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
    • Six (6) years of airline and/or airport experience
    • Five (5) years in a leadership role managing a team
    • Available for moderate overnight travel (20%)
    • Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
    • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response and on short notice
    • Must be able pass a pre-employment drug test
    • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
    • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in business or related area
    • Large scale project management experience
    • Quality management experience
    • Analytic experience, including presentation of findings and recommendations to senior leadership on business case proposals
    • Knowledge of airline industry, including regulatory requirements of external agencies (Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Defense (DOD), International Air Transport Association (IATA), etc.)
    • Working knowledge of all the areas within airports (Operational and Support Services)
    • Customer service experience

 

Crewmember Expectations:

    • Regular attendance and punctuality
    • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
    • Able to maintain a professional appearance
    • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

    • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

    • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
    • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
    • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

    • The base pay range for this position is between $111,400.00 and $156,600.00 per year (New York based salary). Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
