Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Engine Programs reports to the Managing Director (MD) Materials & Engine Programs and is responsible for the preparation, recommendations on and execution of strategic projects and commercial transactions involving engine maintenance to effectively manage external spend. The Senior Manager is also responsible for setting commercial strategy and representing Technical Operations during engine platform selections, engine sales and spare engine purchases. This role serves as the principal owner of the end-to-end supply management process, including market intelligence, financial analysis, sourcing strategy, stakeholder management, supplier negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management. The role involves working closely with JetBlue Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Legal, Corporate Finance and Treasury, among other groups. The primary spend managed will be concentrated around maintenance operations for engines, auxiliary power units (APUs) and components.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the commercial strategy for existing and future engine maintenance programs
  • Assist in the development of a long term engine portfolio strategy, working alongside JetBlue’s Structural Programs and Technical Operations groups
  • Manage engine maintenance projects and transactions involving procurement or sale of spare engines
  • Develop and execute a Business Partner (BP) management process and scorecard to drive Business Partner performance, including use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Conduct analysis on, and present recommendations to executive leadership for all engine platforms
  • Create and manage a sourcing and category plan that aligns to JetBlue’s goals, policies, financial expectations, and cost saving benefits
  • Assist Engine Heavy Maintenance Engineers and Repairs Buyers with commercial transactions and disputes arising from existing engine maintenance contracts and agreements
  • Facilitate, prepare and conduct negotiations on existing and future engine maintenance agreements
  • Establish a team culture that proactively identifies future sourcing opportunities that obtain optimal value for JetBlue and Technical Operations Lead cross functional teams consisting of members from Tech Ops Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Legal, Finance and Accounting
  • Maintain relationships with existing and potential future Business Partners, including engine manufacturers and engine maintenance providers in a way that delivers business results, tracks performance and ensures accountability while upholding the JetBlue values and compliance with all requirements, internal controls and regulations
  • Support Financial Planning and Analysis, Technical Operations and Treasury with financial modeling
  • Oversee contract administration responsibilities and contract compliance for the business unit
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement   
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Diploma (GED)
  • Six (6) years of aviation finance and/or aviation maintenance experience
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written interaction to effectively manage project communications and stakeholder expectations at all levels of the organization including executive leadership
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located  
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business (incl. Accounting, Economics and Finance) or Engineering
  • Seven (7) years of aviation finance and/or aviation maintenance experience
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Knowledgeable in aviation maintenance contracts and expense structures
  • Experience in negotiating and managing aviation maintenance contracts
  • Specific experience with engine maintenance, engine manuals and documentation
  • Experience with project management cross functional teams

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $100,000.00 and $156,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
