Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Materials reports to the Managing Director Materials & Engine Programs and is responsible for leadership of both corporate material functions (including Repairs, Warranty, Req Coordination, Technical Purchasing, & Material Planning) as well as Material Operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the Material Operations in maintenance station/region including proper storage and security of company material and assets in all onsite and offsite storage facilities
  • Develops and continually improves process and procedures for the business units, while partnering cross-departmentally (internal and external) to ensure alignment and sharing of best practices
  • Inform the negotiations for contract terms and conditions
  • Responsible for industry leading inventory to fleet size ratios
  • Lead Technical Purchasing, Material Planning, Repairs, Warranty, & Req Coordination
  • Takes a significant role in the development and training of crewmembers to support engagement, growth, and achievement of goals
  • Builds and maintains capital/operating budget for the business units
  • Ensures performance is compliant with internal and regulatory standards
  • Manages safety risks in the operation
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Six (6) years of aviation experience
  • Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Three (3) years of aviation leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Part 121 Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)
  • Experience building and managing a budget
  • Track record of capturing value and savings within a Technical Operations function
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal, written, as well as strong analytical and time management skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (50%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue’s insurance standards
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an aviation related field
  • Experience leading a large and multi department TechOps work group
  • Ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, in a demanding, and fast-paced operation
  • Accountable and results driven
  • Experience leading or having oversight of warehouse/logistics operation

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and

Company policies, procedures and risk controls

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $111,400.00 and $156,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
