Job Description
As Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships (Public Sector), you will lead AirAsia MOVE’s external engagement strategy with government institutions and the media. You will promote government and public confidence in AirAsia MOVE as a trusted partner in travel, innovation, and economic growth. You will build engagement with public sector stakeholders, monitor evolving policy landscapes, and ensure alignment between public objectives and the organizations strategic priorities. This role reports to the Head of Partnerships of AirAsia MOVE, the Online Travel Agent business of Capital A.
What you will do in this role:
Policy Advocacy: Develop and execute targeted advocacy strategies that advance AirAsia MOVE’s policy goals and growth initiatives, by preparing and presenting position papers, briefing notes and reports to internal leadership and external government stakeholders.
Government Engagement & Stakeholder Management: Build and manage long-term relationships with key stakeholders and represent AirAsia MOVE in official meetings, briefings, roundtables, forums, and policy consultations. Being comfortable managing stakeholders within unstructured, rapidly changing and complex situations.
Strategic Influence: Guide opinions and align stakeholders toward shared objectives by effectively presenting compelling arguments, seeking consensus and securing buy-in without relying on authority, ensuring support for strategic initiatives and policy outcomes.
Reputation, Crisis & Issues Management: Collaborate between internal functions, especially Corporate Communications and Legal, and external agencies to lead government engagement plans to proactively build MOVE’s reputation during business as usual initiatives and diplomatically manage crises when issues arise alongside key internal functions.
Project Management & Execution: Proactively manage projects, track timelines, engage relevant internal and external stakeholders and unblock matters by identifying, escalating and solving problems to ensure timely project execution and completion.
Tracking & Reporting: Track the impact of public sector partnerships on business KPIs. Proactively monitor and interpret government policy changes, legislative developments, and emerging priorities, and provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership.

Education: Background in public policy, political science, law, economics, commerce, finance, or related fields; MBA or Master’s in public policy or public affairs a plus.
Experience: 5–8 years in government relations, public affairs, media, advocacy, policy, or crisis management. Proficient with Looker Studio dashboards, Google Suite products
Language: English and Malay language proficiency with fluent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Being able to converse & communicate in local languages is a plus.
Industry: Familiarity with the spanet dynamics and regulatory frameworks governing the travel (and OTA) industry is crucial.
Network: Possess strong network of contacts with ministries, regulators, tourism boards, non-profit industry associations, media and public sector bodies relevant to the travel and digital industry.
