The Effector RF Products Team at Raytheon is seeking a talented Senior Principal Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ.
The selected candidate will lead the planning, design, implementation, execution, and reporting of antenna qualification activities for several new missile contracts. This role involves leading multi-discipline teams, providing technical oversight, delegating tasks, and collaborating with the Engineering organization to ensure the design and manufacturing robustness of new antenna products. The candidate will work with customer personnel and program leadership to define and refine requirements to validate hardware compliance and provide guidance, coaching, mentoring, and training within their areas of expertise.
This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do:
- Lead antenna qualification test activities.
- Understand team dynamics and capitalize on varied team strengths while mitigating gaps.
- Tailor specifications for antennas and related RF products and collaborate with Range Safety Officers, Customers, Program Management, Functional, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure robust qualification verification.
- Ensure cost, schedule, and performance expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Lead and support Failure Investigations of RF antennas and related products to quickly drive solutions and meet aggressive hardware schedules.
- Regularly convey task status on complex issues and influence strategic plans across multiple teams, programs, and leadership.
- Participate in Raytheons strong culture of mentoring as both a mentor and mentee.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Design, analysis, integration, and test of mechanical products, preferably RF mechanical products such as circuit card assemblies, antennas, radomes, guidance sections, and/or RF test equipment throughout the product life cycle
- Proficiency in designing with three-dimensional (3D) Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
- Creation of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex mechanical or electrical component or subsystem
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Significant experience as a technical leader on a complex RF mechanical or electrical component or subsystem
- Experience serving as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA), Control Account Manager (CAM), and/or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
- Design experience with RF-specific products such as antennas, missile bodies, circuit card assemblies, and/or RF test chambers.
- Supplier management experience for built-to-print or build-to-specification RF products.
- Experience creating and presenting professional-level design documentation to company leadership and program customers.
- Experience using Creo Simulate or ANSYS.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
