We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Senior Vice President – Group Safety to join our team.
As the Senior Vice President – Group Safety, your goal will be to foster a safety-conscious culture and ensure continuous improvement in safety standards, while overseeing the execution of safety audits, workplace safety oversight, safety investigations, and risk management strategies. The role aims to position our company as a leader in safety excellence and developing, leading, and implementing a comprehensive Safety Management System tailored to the diverse needs of the Emirates Group.
In this role, you will be responsible for :
· Investigations:
Oversee comprehensive and expeditious investigations of accidents or incidents, in order to determine the facts and make pertinent recommendations to avoid recurrence.
· Audits and Reviews:
Ensure regular safety audits and oversight reviews are conducted in all relevant operational and non- operational areas of the group, including third-party suppliers and agents, where applicable.
· Events & Trends:
Ensure all accident, incident, safety audit and adverse trend reports are recorded, classified and analysed; so that needed actions are brought to the attention of line management and addressed in a timely manner.
· Communication & Escalation:
Communicate appropriate information to Group senior management and, in particular, the Management Safety Review Committee, and departmental Safety Boards, to ensure that they are fully aware of significant safety concerns and levels of risk.
Act as the primary contact with external safety agencies, within the UAE GCAA, IATA, plus other international regulatory authorities and industry safety groups.
· Risk Reduction:
Ensure that the safety awareness of all employees is constantly raised in order to highlight safety issues and develop a proactive reduction in risk.
· Performance Management:
Ensure employees are effectively performance managed, including through application of the corporate My Business Contribution (MyBC) process and the completion of quality and timely MyBC reviews and actioning of development plans.
Manage the team’s performance through coaching, encouraging staff development and progression, and motivate the team by role modelling leadership and team-working behaviours.
· Goals & Strategy:
Develop and provide a safety strategy to protect the Groups interests, including customers, staff, property, investments, business diversification, partnerships and network expansion, with a goal of consistently protecting people and assets by avoiding accidents and incidents; and incorporating predictive safety, systems improvements and AI integrations.
· Policies & Business Processes:
Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive and relevant safety policies for business processes, individual workplace activities, the utilisation of assets and environmental compliance.
Promote a continuously improving culture of safety, with the open reporting of safety deficiencies and human factors issues.
· Emergency Planning:
Oversee overall preparedness by outstations and the hub to manage emergencies. This includes presence of updated emergency plans (which are integrated with the local authorities and the local police), regular audits, a well-equipped incident command centre, training sessions and refreshers on emergency response plans provided to airport staff as well as volunteers and all manuals are up-to-date.
