This position is responsible for supporting technology development activities that are aligned to the overall Autonomous Systems and AI RTC strategy.  This role crosses multiple Aero business groups (e.g., Avionics, Navigation & Sensors, and AAM GH) with application to Commercial Air Transport, Defense, and AAM business segments.  Broad technology, product, industry/customer background knowledge and experience are required for this position.  The successful candidate will work closely with both internal (e.g., Engineering, Technology Strategy, Business and Strategic Marketing) and external strategic partners to coordinate and drive the maturation of key technologies.

The primary work scope of this role will be contributing and leading the strategic planning for key technologies required to support Autonomy through internal and external funds.  Included in this effort will be the development of Technology Roadmaps and identification of key partnerships that will enable Honeywell to attain its overall Autonomy/AI vision.

The successful candidate will excel at identifying growth focused technology, be able to communicate and advocate for when and why new technology is needed and develop a plan to leverage inorganic opportunities to develop/acquire technology. 

Must be able to work with ambiguity, be an excellent communicator and not lose sight of the big picture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Gold Business Enterprise (GBE) and Offering Managers (OMs), Technology Fellows, Strategic Marketing, Technology Strategy & Innovation (TSI), and Product Chiefs to define needed technologies and build Technology to Product Roadmaps that clearly define product need date, Technology Readiness Level 6 need date, and the applicable market segments.
  • Work with the GBE and TSI to build Technology Procurement Plans for technology clients that can be acquired using inorganic options (Partnering, M&A, VC, etc)
  • Develop strong external funding sources (Government Agencies, Labs, Universities, etc). Have connections within the industry or know how to assess and reach out to suppliers and customers to foster collaboration and partnerships.
  • Work with the GBEs, Fellows, and Chiefs to understand the competition and develop a growth focused strategy for each prospective technology client to counter the competition and win.
  • Work collaboratively with the GBE, Fellows, Chiefs to generate an initial IP strategy to ensure the technology will be protected and the business has a right to practice.
  • Present outputs (Technology Strategy) to CTO, and GBE leadership to receive feedback and approval to execute.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aviation or Aerospace
  • 10 years of experience in Avionics, Autonomy or in a relevant design and development area.
  • Exposure and experience in developing business case assessment to support strategic planning
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
