Amentum is seeking a Senior Director of Maintenance in Las Vegas, NV.

Purpose and Scope: 

Directs the overall Airlift maintenance functions of the company, including all aspects of compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, applicable DoD directives, and principles of sound maintenance discipline. 

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $185,000.00 - $230,000.00. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data. Essential Responsibilities:

Performs the duties of Accountable Manager in accordance with the qualifications listed in 119.67(c) with authority and overall responsibility for managing and implementing the Amentum maintenance program, including all inspection functions. Assists in the formulation and execution of Company and Program policies and reports directly to the Program Manager (VP of Operations). In the absence of the Senior Director of Maintenance, the Director of Maintenance or the Director of Quality/Chief Inspector may be designated to assume these duties.

  • Establishes a department and staff capable to provide manpower, facilities, equipment, and tools necessary to attain the goals established for Airlift operations.
  • Responsible for providing safe, reliable, on-time, airworthy aircraft in support of customer requirements.
  • Responsible for Scheduling and programming aircraft heavy maintenance checks, engine overhauls/hot section inspections and time control component changes. 
  • Responsible for maintenance program modernization requirements, including development of revised/updated plans, procedures, and directives for aircraft replacement, retirement, and fleet modernization.
  • Responsible for timely revision, accuracy, and customer coordination and acceptance of all technical publications, maintenance manuals, and company maintenance policies
  • Responsible for all aspects of mission assurance, safety, and reliability of maintenance employees and workspaces.
  • Measures, compiles, and reports maintenance performance metrics and relevant benchmarks as required by the Program Manager and customer representatives.
  • Uses Company proprietary and government furnished computer-based tools, as well as written policies, procedures, and directives to conduct maintenance activities and assess manufacturer, customer, and company related information.
  • Oversees and monitors system logistics, materiel, and aircraft sustainment, including associated inventories of parts and supplies.
  • Directs and assures that maintenance personnel comply with all manufacturer Airworthiness Directives, Engineering Authorizations, and Service Bulletins, as well as company and customer defined policies and procedures for the maintenance of the airlift fleet. 
  • Directs and assures that required training is provided and documented for unit personnel.
  • Maintains oversight of Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs, and coordinates closely with the government Maintenance Manager (GGR) and the customer Director of Airlift Operations (GFR).
  • Aligns company maintenance standards and practices with accepted customer policies and procedures, including compliance with applicable directives in 14 CFR Parts 121, 145 (list is not all-inclusive) and DCMA 8210.1D.
  • Responsible for adherence to contract standards as defined in the contract, as modified and the statement of work, or as amended.
  • Review maintenance delays and system problems to develop and implement appropriate measures to improve overall performance.
  • Develops and administers effective tool control and foreign object control programs.
  • Responsible for vendor selection, vendor management, and the negotiations of purchase, repair/overhaul and lease contracts.
  • Acts as principal Amentum liaison for union matters/negotiations, grievance resolution, and Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance.   
  • Performs other duties and tasks as directed by the Contract Program Manager.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in management, administration or in an engineering discipline, or equivalent military or commercial experience.
  • Meets the requirements for Director of Maintenance as listed in 14 CFR Part 119.67(c).
  • At the discretion of the company, the A&P rating can be acquired post-employment.
  • Possess leadership and managerial knowledge and skills acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Possess familiarity with computer-based software to monitor department maintenance activities.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills for effective day-to-day work unit supervision.
  • Must qualify for and maintain government security clearance and associated work location access.
  • Possess a current, state issued driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Involves moderate lifting, walking, climbing, standing, stooping, stretching and squatting involved in moving equipment, boarding and de-boarding the aircraft and occasional cargo handling. Complying with deadlines and flight schedule changes may cause increased stress levels for extended periods of time. The work is primarily performed in an office, shop and flight-line working environment in proximity to aircraft, ground support equipment and engine noise. The incumbent must travel routinely to company, customer and vendor locations.
