Prime Air is seeking an experienced Sr. Global Commodity Manager to join our team in Seattle, WA or Austin, TX.

Categories under management for this role include: Professional Services, IT, and equipment however, we often source items beyond the aforementioned.

Key job responsibilities
- Able to dive deep across multiple business lines who use similar categories and commodities to leverage our supplier base to optimize performance, quality, efficiency, and cost.
- Earn trust with internal business partners; establish enduring relationship, build a robust understanding of commodities, strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across suppliers and/or spend categories.
- Develop global sourcing strategies to deliver against business plans, goals and objectives for internal clients.
- Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the Strategic Sourcing strategy development process.
- Drive results by leveraging RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
- Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, optimizing the return on investment and total cost of ownership.
- Serve as an advisor, facilitator, and educator to internal stakeholders on developing and executing sourcing strategies.
- Engage the appropriate subject matter experts, including Legal, Tax, Risk, and Information Security, to evaluate and develop strategies to mitigate third party risk.



Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Job Requirements:
-Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Business or related technical or quantitative field; OR additional 6+ years of related industry experience in lieu of a degree
-7+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, to include at minimum, 5 years in an indirect procurement function, at an international organization,
-7+ years of experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (strategic sourcing management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
-5+ years of experience in developing category plans and sourcing one or more of the following commodities: Professional Services, IT Services, and Equipment as well as other major categories of spend.
- Proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
- Expert understanding of, and deep experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of contracts, worker orders, and purchase orders, as well as, the function and purpose of key legal terms.
- Extremely customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business.
- Experience working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization, and works easily in multi-business unit project settings; able to facilitate teamwork across corporate boundaries.
- Proven written and oral communicator, with strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills to act as an effective change agent, unlocking barriers to value for priority spend categories.
- Embraces fact‐based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling.
- Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
