The Senior Manager, Line Maintenance, provides strategic leadership for the Line Maintenance team across all domestic WestJet-staffed bases and outstations.

Responsibilities: 

  

  • Oversee all aspects of line maintenance activities for all aircraft in scheduled and charter services within their designated regions, including technical dispatch.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are staffed sufficiently.
  • Ensure all maintenance and related activities are accomplished in accordance with the requirements stated in the applicable company regulated manuals.
  • Develop and maintain external maintenance arrangements with vendors for aircraft maintenance and lease or rent of facilities and tools.
  • Fulfill the role of Senior Manager as specified in the Company Safety Manual (CSM) as well as perform the tasks assigned to that role within the SMS.
  • Ensure the implementation of effective corrective action to eliminate/reduce the risk of the cause or probable cause of all hazards, incidents, and accidents identified under the SMS.
  • Manage and maintain serviceability of Technical Operations ground support equipment to successfully operate across Technical Operations locations.
  • Completes all duties with the highest level of safety and reports any condition or process which may adversely affect safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Coach and mentor Operations Manager (OM) and outbase personnel so they can perform their job function successfully, ensuring they are able to support the maintenance organization and WestJet personnel at the standards expected.
  • Liaise with OM to identify performance issues and take the necessary action in an effective and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and manages planned and unplanned maintenance carried out in WestJet maintenance facilities.
  • Control and document work initiated and performed by the AMO.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Control, Planning, Purchasing, and Stores, as required.
  • Monitor maintenance personnel to ensure a proper skill level is maintained for all work to be performed within the AMO scope of work.
  • Advise the Vice-President, Line Maintenance equipment requirements to support maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel use the appropriate tools and technical manuals in the performance of their work.
  • Ensure hangars and shops are maintained in a clean condition.
  • Ensure defects are corrected and planned maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and acceptable manner.
  • Ensure all maintenance personnel receive adequate training within their designated regions
  • Liaise with the maintenance scheduler to maintain personnel work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all required maintenance.
  • Complete a maintenance release as defined in MPM chapter 11.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge and experience of industry practices and understands the responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Minimum of six years experience performing or directly supervising maintenance activities of the type undertaken by the organization, where at least six months of which has been obtained within the preceding two years.
  • Hold a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (M2, E, or S).
  • Hold an industry Canada Radio (Aeronautical) Certificate within six months from the date of accepting the position.
